I wish Tommy would just knowledge that it was Kidada and Aaliyah that took Hilfiger to new heights.

@@vonamel_music He showed Aaliyah and Destiny’s Child but he didn’t give credit to the two Black Women that made wearing Hilfiger popular amongst Black Culture. It’s weird.

That statement actually it’s not true…The real moment that took Tommy to the next level was when Snoop Dogg showed up at the Saturday Night Live show from 1994, a year before we saw for the first time Tommy Hilfiger worn by Grand Puba, after that night when Snoop wore that joint you started to see Tommy Hil everywhere! Obviously Aaliyah and Destinys Child were important too but early/mid 90s was the peak for Tommy

He described Aaliyahs signature style of sporty/preppy, street/classy, then shows her in like a dozen ads, where she was being the most fabulous model with the best hair. And the top artists followed her blueprint after.

He Gave Aaliyah no credit on how she inspired the girls line because at first it was only made for men smh 💯

Aaliyah never get any credit of the shit that she does. So you shouldn’t be surprised at all. That’s why I say that the people that knew her, are full of shit.

Nah, it was Black AND Asian Americans. Asian Americans just didn’t have any representation at the time because America was (and still kinda is) xenophobic. Literally, the only ppl making brands hot like Tommy and Polo were Black American & Asian American kids.

I’m trying to find the interview with Hilfiger where he said the first time the turned a pair of boxers into a sports bra was with Aaliyah for that specific iconic Tommy Jeans shoot but I believe he got it wrong and I wanted to badly to correct him. She may have been the first to do that with but it wasn’t for that photoshoot. See it was the 90s and TH was getting its name out there. So they’re not gonna focus on (at the time) all these small celebrities and specifically celebrate them for making shit pop but know I really wish he would know just a bit more about the help her style did for him. People are ruining the look now by imitating. And I understand why he put emphasis on Beyoncé wearing his close cause going for active strong fans is a numbers play but it just hurt that he skipped over Aaliyah again. He may mention her here and there but never really captivates in word what she really did
