Aafje Heynis: ik herinner mij haar, zingend in het Weihnachtsoratorium, samen met mijn schoonmoeder - sopraan Ded Hüsken en violist Karel Hüsken, mijn schoonvader - in de Westerkerk in Amsterdam.. Mooie herinneringen, prachtige muziek, ook bij het Paasfeest in de Matthëus passion. Geweldige mensen! Dank jullie voor jullie inzet voor een betere wereld.

The richness and at the same time the open quality of this voice takes one's breath away. Aafje makes me think of Kathleen Ferrier. This is a true contralto voice - so rare and magical. I have been comparing this older recoding to Sara Mingardo who is also wonderful but Aafje is by far the greater rendition.

A perfect version from the Stabat Mater. Slower then 2014, but so beautiful. In this time still from the Soul. A great example. Love the organ colours that Aafje Heynis, and wood very dark wood. Eja Mater...tears on Velvet.

Ronald Feltkamp 2017 It is by far the recording with the most emotion, mastered emotion and at the same time a great tenderness and devotion; a full, warm voice. No wonder that the italian conductor Efrikian came to Holland to ask Heynis to interprete this sublime piece of music. An exceptional gifted alto, especially for music with a deep feeling, like that other example of her art the vier ernste Gesänge composed by Brahms. Fantastic, that her voice and art are recovered by youtube.

Ronald Feltkamp 2017Excellent initiative to recover through youtube this extraorinary voice/art. The best interpretation of this marvolous piece of music; no wonder the italian conductor wanted this dutch voice, Aafje heynis. It is the perfect choice. A warm voice, full of emotion, tenderness and devotion, precisely the right mix. A voice which respects the composer, does not try to outshine the composer; like she avoids also in this other composition the vier ernste Gesänge by Brahms; she transmits the deep feeling present in compositions. May this presentation on KZread make her known, pull her from oblivion

I think this music traces a very fine line between the consciousness of spiritual truths and madness. This also implies that spiritual truths are only the emanations of a torn human spirit, whether or not it is to seek or withdraw something. It is also important to ask why this is so. Why are these spiritual truths obsess us on the surface when we are in a state of prayer or fasting?

Pity max resolution is 480. Sound quality would be much better if original was in 720 or 1080 as better bitrates
