Aachen, Germany, walking tour 4K 60fps - A beautiful German city
Today's tour is in Aachen city, Germany. It is the westernmost city in Germany, and borders Belgium and the Netherlands to the west, the triborder area. It is located between Maastricht (NL) and Liège (BE) in the west, and Bonn and Cologne[b] in the east. The Wurm River flows through the city, and together with Mönchengladbach. Aachen is well known for being home to the first UNESCO World Heritage Site in Germany - Aachen Cathedral.
In today's tour, we will walk through the city, passing it's most beautiful streets, buildings, churches, monuments and squares, stroll through its narrow, winding lanes, and enjoy the flair of the westernmost major city in Germany. Small? Aachen is one of the bigger cities. It is bigger then Bonn. Bigger then Freiburg Breisgau or Oberhausen. So no call this a small city?🤔when a lot of famous cities are smaller in Germany
I had the privilege of living in Aachen from 2011-2021. We had to move back to the States and now I miss my friends and the city of Aachen itself very much! This is a nice walking tour you did. Thank You for sharing it!

In Aachen habe ich studiert, gearbeitet, geliebt - und bin nach 30 Jahren wieder hier. Herrliche Provinz. Die Stadt Karls des Großen, des Münsters und der RWTH.

Ich habe auch vor 25 Jahren dort an der RWTH studiert. Habe damals einige richtig "Öcher" Freunde kennengelernt, mit den gefeiert, deswegen immer wieder zurückgereist für ein paar Tage Kurzurlaub. Der schöne Dom, Rathaus und einige richtige "Öcher Dinge" sind sicherlich noch da. Sonst ist wenig übrig von der Kneipenkultur, Clubs und generell entspannten Atmosphäre. Ein nächtlicher Spaziergang kann schnell sehr anstrengend werden, wenn ich mir so die Geschichten heutiger Studierenden anhöre, und vor allem für die Studentinnen manchmal sogar bedrohlich. War wohl letztens noch auf einen coolen Post-Punk Konzert im Autonomen Zentrum, das war noch mal richtig schön.

Without showing RWTH you simply can't get the full Aachen picture. And also all the Döner places in Pontstraße are like the heart of Aachen.

Maastricht, Aachen & Köln are the three cities that've played a big part in Limburgish history and symbolize the historical connection and unity of the Limburgish people and the people form Nordrhein-Westfalen along the rivers Meuse and Rhine. It's just mind boggling how places with such a shared history & culture could ever be divided among 3 countries with whom we don't share any culture or history before being part of the country.
I visited this place back in 1988 near to the Xmas holidays and this place was packed with a lot of people - very dynamic. It was hard to move around. The city has not been changed much or at all but it looks almost empty. Where are all the people?

You must have been visiting the Christmas market then. Of course, the city is not overcrowded otherwise. The video has apparently been made in February when it‘s rather cold and rainy. ☔️

@@AndreLA69 hi! Aachen ist wirklich eine tolle Stadt. Das Meer ist nicht weit weg (Belgien, Ostende/Knokke) Holland ist um die Ecke und wir haben einen älteren (und schöneren 😄) Dom als Köln. Große Städte sind ebenfalls quasi um die Ecke und Rheinländer haben eine offene Art.
Ich lebe seitdem 2001 in Aachen klein aber ruhige Stadt.

アーへンはフランス語では「Aix-la-Chapelle」と呼び、ベルギーとオランダと国境を接していてフランスにも近いドイツの都市である。 この町はシャルルマーニュ（カール大帝。西暦800年に西ローマ帝国を復活させ皇帝になる）の本拠地であった。
