A82 Need Carbon Fiber Seats In Your Supercar? I Made a Mold to Build My Own!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

This is the first in a two part build. In this episode I build a mold, custom formed to fit my posterior, after which we will be creating forged carbon fiber seats for the Arete Suprecar Project.

    Really enjoyed this video. I have used many of your videos to learn how to do projects for my resto-mod 73 Challenger. I am impressed with your patience and your expertise. Thank you for posting all the intermediate steps. I am learning so much from your work. Many thanks

    Hi Jay Firstly let me say a BIG thank you for letting us into your life and sharing a huge amount of knowledge. I've watched all of your videos up to date and am a huge fan. I've learnt a lot from you and have applied that knowledge in some projects (little ones compared to yours) of my own. Love the color of those seats, don't know which parts will be covered in leather though but the carbon fiber looks awesome! Thanks again for an amazing channel.

    Thanks for watching. You binge watchers trigger the algorithm for me. The seats will have just some small pads in leather, so a lot of the carbon will show.

    I've seen a guy use fairing compound for boat hulls as his preferred shaping filler as it stands easier and is cheaper. May have also been readily available for him though. Liked the seat molding idea.

    - RAIN. It's Oregon; I live down South of you and we just have to work around it.. - I guess fiberglass cloth and resin doesn't like you. It likes me and at one point when I am working on a project I get a fury gloves from the flakes of f.g. cloth. - I love the smell of the resin but only outside, inside I feel it is rotting my brain ;-) - This is all very interesting and you present it well - You also have good teeth - no I not a dentist but when I walk around being around people I see thing. On to the next video. "A garage without a Porsche is just a dark hole" - Walter Rohrl - Porsche Development

    Do you do the poly resin coat before the epoxy resin coat is fully dry for adhesion, or does the previous coat have to be fully dry first?

  • @BuilderCreator

    @BuilderCreator

    Needs to fully cure before switching chemistry.

    Hi, which body filler did you use?

    If it's not going to be used as filler on a finished car, then I use the cheapest filler I can find, usually Bondo.

    Please can you tell me does in carbon fiber seat need any core material or just some layers of carbon fiber is enough for a strong seat

    Enough layers would work, or you can reduce the number of layers by adding a core.

    @@BuilderCreator can you tell me how many layers would be needed for 10mm thickness seat for that i have 3k 200gsm twill carbon fiber cloth and i have 2mm nomex honeycomb sheet.

  • @BuilderCreator

    @BuilderCreator

    10 ай бұрын

    @@shayansaleem1137 Well, to reach 10mm you are going to need 30 layers; as a 3K 200gsm cloth is only .254mm thick (.254mm x31=7.8+2mm honeycomb=9.8mm) But I would think that 4 layers as a base and 3 after the honeycomb would produce a fairly strong seat.

    Whats the name of Carbon Fiber Small Fibers? Where can I Buy it?

  • @BuilderCreator

    @BuilderCreator

    Жыл бұрын

    You can find chopped carbon fiber in many places. (Amazon). I have discovered that I like to use a rotary cutter and cut regular carbon fiber (2x2 twill fabric) into small squares and break them apart. More random lengths and cheaper.

    I love your project, but please change the seats. that middle section of your headrest will put you in a wheelchair if you get into an accident. Please protect your spine. You can't have a raised area in the middle there!!!!
