If you guys haven’t already locked down a place you should check out Georgetown. I was only there for a few days but seemed like a chill town and only about 20-25 minutes to downtown Austin..

Shane is great at stand up, boring on Podcasts. Truth hurts. No match for Sagalow, Normand, Recine, Mullen, Hell even the Rough week boys. So many other heavy hitters on pods that are quick witted and funny on the spot. Shane ain't one of them. He's funny as hell, but I can't understand how people find him funny and engaging on Pods. He is the Louis CK of Podcasting.

There were multiple cases of abuse and neglect in state asylums that got coverage that turned a lot of the public opinion against them. It certainly wasnt just because Reagan watched a movie lol. Activist groups were also working to make it much more difficult to commit someone. Which it does sound like it would have been to easy to do back then but i think we might have overcorrected, its tough. From what i understand, the way laws are in various places, a person almost has to have already hurt themselves or someone else before you can force them into treatment. If we had all the facilities we needed tomorrow, unless people volunteer for treatment i think we would have another layer of issue.

Not only do I generally not watch my favorite comedy podcasts for their guests (MSSP, Stuff Island, Tuesdays with Stories, The Regz, Soder), if they have guests at all, but I haven't noticed them having the same guests to some noticeable extent, wherever they're produced. It just seems to depend on who's in town and available (touring or local) and/or who has something to promote and is making the rounds.

Kinda unbelievable the comics we liked for being themselves eventually jump on the bandwagon and head to Austin. How cliche and basic. Rogan isn't even a comedian to idolize.

I think Rogan sucks as a comic. Doesn't mean it's not necessarily a good move for them to move down there anyway.

Moving to Austin is going to be the worst thing that ever happened to this podcast and comedy in general. In 2-3 years when the Texas hype has died down and they continue to pass more archaic and bullshit laws the comedians will flee in droves. Rogan single handedly killed stand up comedy with his Austin move.

Are you saying stand-up comedy has been dead since Joe Rogan's move to Austin, or that its death is triggered by it and ongoing? And if what you describe comes to pass, those comedians leaving Austin will revive stand-up comedy, right? Perhaps most importantly, what kind of things make you think that stand-up comedy has suffered (if not died) since Joe Rogan moved to Austin? Like, where does your opinion and outlook come from?

Comedy is a bubble right now and moving every major comedian to Austin is going to cause the bubble to pop and then comedians are going to refuse to leave Austin and try to force everyone to go there to see them. It's okay that you reside firmly on the left side of the bell curve in terms of intelligence but don't worry squirt, you'll see what I mean over the next year when it's so obvious that even someone with a singular brain cell like yourself will understand :)
