    You know Interstellar was based on the book A Wrinkle in Time. The writer read it as a child and it affected him and he made this movie. For the love of Pete, people.

    Just watched it. The family is super adorable. At first it started out slow to me, but after the line “do you trust me?” it got a lot better! The visuals are amazing and overall gave me a few Coraline vibes, which is great. By the end I left the movie feeling inspired. I think younger girls and boys can take something from this. bluhousworker I know it's a sci-if book, I read it multiple times in fifth grade. I just find that this trailer misses the point of the book in multiple ways. They say that Meg is the only one who can stop the Darkness. She was never supposed to stop the Darkness, she just wanted her father back. Also, the man with red eyes appears to be standing and wearing a lurid suit, he looks more like Tony Stark than the Man with the Red Eyes. Also, I don't remember the kid's being attacked by the Horrible Rock Creature straight out of Star Trek 5's deleted scene. If that's supposed to be IT, then they really screwed the pooch. This looks like a generic kid's sci-fi action movie. Wrinkle in Time was more about the mental side of evil than any physical threat.

    Okay first few seconds of the trailer looked okay, and then shit storm. Why are the three Mrs. W's dressed like they're shooting a music video? Why does Comazotz look like the 1950s? It was supposed to look bleak and drab, and no one smiled, happiness was forbidden because IT deemed positive emotions a danger to ITself. And what in the mother of God was that thing at the end? This looks like the missing Horrible Rock Creature from Star Trek V. You know what would have been creepier and more iconic to end the trailer with? The fucking Man with the Red Eyes!!!!

    runswithscissors86 I'm sure a lot of idiots will complain about the races of the characters being changed, but I could care less. My problem with this is that the director/screenwriter/filmmakers in general are completely missing the point of the book and the intention of the author. To be honest, I'm not even a huge fan of this book, but the stuff on Comazotz was pure literary gold.

  • @Bendrix0

    @Bendrix0

    I agree that the Mrs. W's are unnecessarily stylized for the movie, but Comazotz is exactly how I pictured it in my head as a child - bright, suburban street, plastered fake smiles, and this malaise that you can't identify until the curtain gets peeled back. Horror and pain hidden in plain sight.

If you're trying out for any film just be yourself and block out the haters and you will possibly get the role you want but if you don't be yourself you might get into the film but not the role you want so good luck with your future people :)

    Ive got to say, I’ve watched about 7 different trailers of this movie, and I still didn’t get what this movie was about. The only thing I got is that Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kailing were in in. I didn’t even know that he was the father of the little girl until I read the plot online. What Ive gathered on this is that Disney took well known women and smushed them together in a movie with “Alice In Wonderland” clothes & “Inception” concepts. I love Disney, but common...

    Chris Pine seems to be the only person expressing genuine emotion in the trailer, I found myself immediately affected and interested in his character. I can't say the same for the three witches though. Oprah's face is too well known and her manner in this trailer was very much like the persona she often assumes in public i.e. dispenser of wisdom. I can't submerge Oprah and just see the character of the wise witch she is meant to be playing. The same for the glimpse we were shown of Reese Witherspoon - she just looked like an outlandishly dressed, stern looking version of herself. Now we all know that both of these ladies can act so this is either a failure of the director or a casting failure. I certainly would have preferred to see unknown but deserving actresses cast in these roles but I suspect that Disney wanted "stars" who could open the movie.

    June Bug Wow, what a ridiculous and juvenile conclusion to draw. As a woman and feminist I am deeply offended. Being unimpressed by the acting excerpts shown of Oprah and Reese in a movie trailer hardly entitles you to draw the conclusion that someone is a misogynistic racist. It simply means we have different tastes in movie trailers and acting styles. Shocking that you would take it to an extreme like that. I sincerely hope that you learn a bit of critical thinking and maturity.

    Hey just pointing out the obvious, it happens alot in Hollywood and other places. It's not a secret, maybe open up your eyes a bit notice the pattern. The fact that people are only starting to talk about this is recently, which why a certain group voted for the most sexist president in our generation. People are angry when you point out the obvious, let them be angry. They can make their remarks but expect some comments back. Even Carrie Fisher pointed out that a month before she died, she said there are double standards even in space (on screen).

    I love this trailer so much! It gives me chills. I read the book as a child a million times, I always loved it so much. The original movie really disappointed me, I honestly really disliked it, so in my opinion anything is preferable to that. As for the character's appearances, I've learned not to care much about that. The Harry Potter movies are still good even though Harry's eyes aren't green, and dyeing Annabeth's hair blond didn't make the second PJO film good. Meg has the vibe of the character, the same personality and that's all that matters.

    I noticed there are many who loves using the racist card against others. But If you point out that none of the main characters were black in the novel, that's not being racist. It's about hypocrisy. Can you imagine if Disney used a novel written by a black author instead, and hired a white director who made some of the characters white? And for what reason? The director says she wanted Meg to look like one of the brown girls from her own childhood. True colorblindness is if your ethnicity is irrelevant. But she was very specific about ethnicity and knew what she wanted. Now, if Meg was black and a white director said he wanted her to look like one of the blonde girls from his childhood, people would go ballistic. One also gets the impression the director is using the movie to promote some of her personal views. Yes, the trailer looks good, but it doesn't change the facts.

    i loved all of the books, they (the books) all hold valid scientific points (while also being fictional). That was an accomplishment I haven't seen very often. By looking at this trailer, I am kind of excited for the movie. But I also couldn't recognize most of the things that were in the trailer (except for the most iconic ones, like the house scene), so the directors probably got a couple of things... well, a bit wrong, to say. I don't really know what to think this early but I guess it could be alright. I just hope that they capture the spirit of the book in the movie (but nowadays that's a real easy thing to mess up), so I'm just waiting to see.
