A World You Didn't Know Existed
The main reason we decided to visit Papua New Guinea earlier this year, The Smoked Bodies of Aseki! So if you have a few minutes just take a glance to witness something only 30 people or so from outside PNG get a chance to visit! Enjoy!
Gratitude should be the only attitude!

I used to be so put off by seeing things like this when I was younger but I can now see the beauty in it after hearing their story. The people did not want to be buried or cremated but wanted to be put in a place where they can overlook the vista they once spent so much time in. Amazing place!

Saw this on a random ‘short’, so came to hunt down this video. It’s just incredible seeing the diversity on this beautiful planet. There are great areas with villages who live like this and wouldn’t know what a 1970’s turn dial phone is, let alone an iPhone. Everything is provided by nature and families. I’m blown away. About to go and binge your other videos and you’ve earned a new sub. Keep doing what you’re doing, allowing us to see inside these civilisations that are almost alien to us. I hope your channel gets more exposure and recognition, you deserve it.

In Papua New Guinea, the Anga tribe mummifies their dead using smoke curing. The dead are placed sitting up in a hut and subjected to three months of smoking over a constantly roaring fire. The smoking helps to preserve the corpse in a tropical culture where it would normally decompose quickly. The Anga then place the bodies on cliffs overlooking the village.

Be better if you researched the history first. My father built a lot of the decent Highlands roads in the 1950s, making it more accessible and enabling the densely populated area to grow cash crops and be more self determined, have a voice with voting facilities etc. Australia should do more to help development, but the central PNG government is quite corrupt and villagers are justifiably suspicious as they’ve been screwed by foreigners before.
