What is most striking is this- not ONE regrets losing their faith. Indeed, many report a feeling of freedom, having thrown off the shackles of religious superstition. Given your background, you are ideally situated to help others recover from their childhood indoctrination. Welcome to the real world, the world of science and reason.

I have no sympathy for Linda. By all accounts she knew that Dan was a married man and actively went out to nab him once she knew he had a crush on her. She was fired from a previous job for being unprofessional - sitting on people’s laps and calling the mother of her boyfriends children fat etc in front of them. I would imagine she did send her nasty messages through the post.

IMO: *Betty* had no right to kill Dan. Yes, she gave him the best years of her life only for him to leave her for a younger woman, and I get that frustration, but she was a mother and should've prioritized her children's needs. They'll suffer forever for this. *Dan* was the lesser of 2 evils. He shouldn't have cheated, and the problems he and Betty had could've been handled better if they were both simply more mature. Still, he didn't deserve to die. *Linda* is the only one for whom I feel NO sympathy. She should've minded her own business. Instead, she messed with a married man and fanned the flames to an already problematic family. I once had a married man try to get with me, but I told him I wanted NONE of that trouble and then blocked him. I have enough problems in my life, lol. P.S.- However you feel about the story in real life, I think we can all agree Meredith Baxter is a PHENOMENAL actress!

Patricia Cook are you aware of all the facts? She couldn’t have had everything still as you put it. Her husband screwed her over in secret using his legal knowledge to continuously reduce her financial entitlement to a pittance and after years of bringing up their children almost single handedly he removed even visitation rights. I don’t agree with what she did but he also gaslighted the hell out of her and drove her to this temporary insanity where his own appalling behaviour backfired in a terrible way for all the family. There were no winners.

Dan (R.I.P.) drove her insane. The series really show both Dan (R.I.P.) & Betty’s characters pretty well. She’d lived all her life for her husband & children; Dan (R.I.P.) ripped her of everything she valued. The devaluing, rejection, abandonment etc…can really drive you insanely off your supposed personality. They both needed help however, stubbornness leads to no one winning. May their souls (Dan & Linda) continue to R.I.P. & I hope Betty found her peace plus the children too.

You don’t ‘own’ anyone and this woman was young enough to have got out there and met someone else and kept her dignity besides. If someone doesn’t want you any more, you must accept that. You can only do so much to hold on to them but there comes a point when you have to move on. She had lost her power and lost even more as time went by. With $16000 a month and the fabulous house she bought herself, I have little sympathy for her. Many women dumped by their men are left destitute, their youth swallowed up by a man who thinks nothing of dumping them. Yes this movie paints the husband in a blame free light but no matter how awful he was, he was free to choose who he spent his life with. Today’s attitudes have shifted to sympathy for the dumped wife but I have little sympathy for Betty B. She says she ‘regrets’ that Dan had no character, but she was the one lacking in character. With a stronger character she would have handled the situation in a more positive way.

This version doesn't quite go in depth as the latest Netflix version so I feel safe to say this is more of dan's version whereas netflix's version shows how mean and disgusted dan was with betty after hooking up with Linda. He totally gaslighted betty and even though I wish she'd been stronger and loved herself more than him, her esteem wouldn't allow her to move on. Murder wasn't the answer but I could see how she got there. Linda also should've refrained from being with a man who was still very much married when they begun to sneak around!

@@zt1053 yes, betty went over the top with the constant harassment and the total disregard for dan and linda's privacy. Betty felt that Dan was hers and no youngster was going to just snatch her husband from her but let's be real, both men and women alike become very territorial in relationships especially when children are involved. According to the latest version, betty spent 6 years wanting dan back and when she couldn't win, murdering dan and Linda was inevitable! She couldn't lose dan to a 19 year old period! May have had a different ending IF the female was younger and IF they were already separated before dating another woman.

As always, there are two sides to every story! From the beginning, when confronted by Betty about his affair with Linda, Dan denied it.! When Dan told her he was leaving, Betty's behavior became erratic and agressive. Dan served her with divorce papers after she entered his home and smeared cake over his bed, walls, etc. She returned to his home and broke furniture, dishes, and pictures. In the divorce settlement she was awarded $16,000 per month, but this did not satisfy her, nothing seemed to satisfy her! she fought about the money, the house, etc., But it was really about the betrayal! She was jealous of Linda because she had taken over her life with Dan. I think, given her behavior, Dan tried to deal with Betty as best he could, The more outrageous her behavior, and the more out of control she became, the more he reacted! His was the cool head! With his high profile and legal expertise, he had the edge. He fined her for leaving vulgar messages on his answering machine, which by the way, the children heard, and he was awarded custody of the children because of her unstableness.During this long drawn out battle with Dan, was she thinking about what effect her behavior was having on the children? Betty was a smart, attractive, woman, who could have made a life for herself without Dan Broderick, but unfortunately, to her detriment, she could not let go! Every woman who has experienced a similar situation, can identify with Betty's anger and bitterness, but she carried things too far. I think she intentionally killed Dan and Linda, for which she shows no remorse, and the jury got it right the second time, and she is now paying the ultimate price.

I mean I believe both sides of this... no emotions just str8 down the middle... we know she was bitch and I'm tired if hearing this gaslighting, he cheated so he made me do it! I really wanted to see how she lost in the divorce bcuz every1 knows women usually get half! But she did it to herself! who wouldn't stop talking to sum1 who acted like this! ppl can't excuse this kinda behavior

In this movie Dan looks like the victim. In Dirty John The Story is way better. Betty is the victim.

Watching this again and I see that Dan really was starting to like Linda...Taking her to get his new car and dinner..He could have stopped it with her, but he didn't....Maybe Betty saw it and lost it...What she did was so wrong tho and very glad she is away forever...
