Nice video of cars and semis climbing on the hill on that curvy, winding road on a windy day. Hawkes Bay region in New Zealand looks nice. New Zealand is a country I need to go to one day.

I remember well travelling over the "old track" Taupo to Napier many years before the new road put in through the deviation...... The hill road was notorious on motorists!

Thanks for this...it’s nice to watch the road and not drive it like I did last weekend. A dramatic drive...a real drive...and always a relief to get to the end. My respect for the truckers who drive it every day!

Its a dangerous road to drive even in a car even in summer causes theres alot of black ice on the rd especially coming down either end of the summit. It was even worse in the earlier years causes parts of that Napier Taupo rd didn't excist alot of it came during the 1990s .It use to be more windy and narrower and steeper.

Drove it twice every night, in the winter you can almost be sure it's raining somewhere through their, but it's not too bad, it's a cool road, I like it, keeps the mind busy, wish I had a dollar for every truck that quit climbing the cafe side of the summit 😆 the waipungas is the worst of it.

Tis true that there can be black ice, especially where the sun don't shine but slow down and drive to the conditions. It's an enjoyable road but some newly planted trees are beginning to block the panoramic view of Napier on the summit before heading south to Te Pohue.

Don't see any cops on this stretch of road which there's alot of accidents on this road. Quite alot of tailgating look at cars driving too close if those trucks were to brake well goodbye to the car. People use your road rules. Trucks have a long haul so be wise people be safe.

For a while I thought truckies had nicknamed it the titties until someone used it's full name over the radio one night😆 Most of the video is on the northern side heading up, just around that corner is a little straight to that bit filmed on the top, just between those two points a truck burned to ground and closed the road, there was a huge scorch mark up the side of the cutting for ages, I ended up getting diverted over the saddle rd ....that was a long night that would've blown my log book to pieces had I told the truth.😖🤐😁
