I love Ruins! Such an underated band! Whenever it sounds like there's a third instrument, there isn't, nor do they use backing tracks. What they do use are looping pedals, octave pedals etc. Everything is completely replicable in a live setting.

Absolutely. I posted a whole set of them on yt from 99, Fireside bowl, Chicago, when Hisashi played Bass through Steve Albini's guitar amp

I became online friends with Bassist Hisashi Sasaki. He sent me tons of sheet music to collab with.

Wild journey on this one. All over the place in a quick but masterful way. Has an attitude that SOAD would use especiallyu on their first album.

Lots of patience needed with this one! But some great slithers of guitar work

Honestly. Their track "Yawiquo" is truly something to behold. It's a study in Brilliance

Man, I used to be really into Ruins a few years back, it's been a minute since I listened to them. Ruins III, Pallaschtom and Tzomborgha (this one) were my favourite albums. I'd say check out Ruins III if you want something more aggressive and punky, Government is an especially cool track imo

You should definitely check out the new album by Justice, "Hyperdrama". Any of the songs would be nice, but the highlight of the album for me is a 2 minute song, "Moonlight Rendez-vous". It's genuinely so great

Zeuhl style, Brian, is heavy on rhythm and repetition, with odd choral vocals and intensity. As you know, this is the realm of Magma. Tatsuya Yoshida owes influence to Christian Vander and Magma, as do Koehenjiyakkei (another Yoshida band). Ruins is just two people. BUt really, I think you've only done one Magma song and it would do you well to do Kohntarkosz, which is Vander's masterwork.
