A whole new purpose for the greenhouse

It's that time of year when I completely flip my greenhouse and go from summer plants to seed starting and autumn growing and to do that I need to completely change the set up in there.
The folding greenhouse benches are in place so that I have seed starting and potting up areas, I have storage for compost and mixes and I have shelf space for my seed trays and module trays.
It's time for the autumn and winter growing to start.

Thank you, just what I needed to hear. I'm still learning how to use my greenhouse. I needed to know there a time to flip the plants to get the most out of your space. I kept my summer plants well into winter just limping along. Now I understand there is a time to get them out and make room for the next season. You are so smart. Sometimes I think we just need permission to do the things we know we should. Letting a plant fo is so hard.

I have raised beds, multiple plastic greenhouses, and even a tiny glass one. Your big, beautiful greenhouse would be a luxury for me. Thankfully there's not much that needs extra sheltering in my zone 4 summers. In my livingroom, I have a few growingspaces for seeds and seedlings made out of cardboard boxes actually! An old writing desk has growlight strips in it and functions as a mini growing space also. I feel I have plenty of space to get on with :D If I ever become a lottomillionaire I'd of course get myself a heated greenhouse!

The tomatoes are now finished and the chillis are on their last gasp so I'll hopefully be back on track doing the end of year refurb and following your example to get things back to clean and tidy! I was looking for the same bins you have for compost and the like and discovered it's amazingly difficult to find them in the US. I was able to find some small ones, but nothing substantial for soil storage without spending a pretty penny and the reasonably manageable size (10 gallons) were out of stock or at scalper prices! Most options i found were only in the EU/UK. If any other US folks are looking, your key search terms are hopper, bin, lid, front (for hopper-style bins with front and top access lids). May you have more luck than me! :)

Great video and very helpful to me since this is my first autumn/winter with my greenhouse. I'm setting up some hydroponics and over-wintering some things. Your supermarket pepper looks a lot like the variety I grew this year and it was super productive. It is called Gather's Gold Sweet Italian and I'll definitely be growing that one again next year. I'm also going to look for your King of the North bell pepper. Although, I think the sweet Italian has even a better flavor and is a bit sweeter. I'm looking forward to a few full years of experience with the greenhouse. It has been a long-time dream to have it and now I get to learn how to maximize my use and results.

The apples look fantastic!! Definitely will try King of the North pepper and under low tunnel next year. As you discussed on GS today I’m not big on hot peppers and they can be a bit scary. To me nothing better than a crisp thick walled juicy sweet pepper-Yum! I also will agree on tomato varieties!! I’m going back to tried and true from here on out as out of 25 varieties of Tom’s I can’t really say I liked any of them. They are called designer heirlooms and they just don’t have the acidity that makes a good tasting and keeping tomato. The catfacing was hideous and texture was just all wrong. We had drought, but I did install drip irrigation. The plants were all healthy and not overwatered. And yes, black krim and Cherokee purple were the worst scarred tomatoes I’ve ever grown. Ben on Grow Veg just interviewed a veg farmer in UK and he’s not adverse to growing hybrids, you just can’t save seeds. His philosophy for business is if it tastes good, harvests well and is productive it’s a win. I’m all for it. I do like to save seeds, but until I find the Best heirloom Varieties for My garden will I continue on with varieties that are designer. That is key what you said today about finding the right varieties! Exciting News! My husband finally took the trailer to get me planks for shelves in garden shed🎉🎉. I waited all year and now I don’t fell like organizing 😂. Oh, all the scrubbing of flats and cells 🙄. I threw on some extras also and now wished I had got new polycarbonate panels as I never know when I will get them😵‍💫 Thx Eli!

First time, this year, I dried apple slices without sugar, a touch of cinnamon and are they good. I left them in the oven at the lowest possible heat, dried totally, and I am so pleased. I will, unfortunately, need to buy other fruit, but now I can enjoy sugar free dried fruit. No lemon juice either. I can't have a greenhouse 😥 but I have adapted to that by moving my pepper plant indoors. Over winter my tiny apartment looks more like your greenhouse, but I just can't stop growing stuff. 😂

Thanks for a great video. Wondering if you could tell me a bit more about the apple trees in front of your greenhouse as they are in containers . Many Thanks.

They are falstaff read. Nope if they are on dwarfing rootstock you can grow them in big pots but you need to keep on top of watering and feeding so they don’t suffer
