The cycle of life at Sonne Farms. Baby cows poop which fertilizes the fields which grow the crops to feed the bulls which fertilize the cattles which make the roasts that feed the farmers which farm the fields and herd the cows so they can make more calves.

Brian & Cole, so glad to hear that all your calves have made it through this harsh cold snap and are healthy. You can tell a Sonne Farms purebred Angus by the way it's coat shines. You boys need a Milwaukee M18 cordless heat gun, they work great. Stay safe and warm.

Brian, I once again say that you are so fortunate to have a young son that loves the cattle farm and is so readily available to help with chores. Good help is hard to find these days and to have a son that rather than bolt for the glamor of the outside world truly seems to love the cattle business. I know the constant presence of the KZread camera can be worrisome at times, but a son/good buddy is rewarding. Can’t wait to see if Ellie becomes a mother.

Memo from the Engineering Department: Dear Sir, That ain't a design flaw, that's an integral part of a calf's defense mechanism. First line of defense is to run away. Second is to open the bomb bay doors and release the biological weapon in a smelly warm stream in the direction of the predator! Think of it like a tail gunner in a B-29! If the smell don't stop 'em, maybe the slipping and sliding will slow them down enough to get away! Try pulling and see how that works! If satisfactory results are not achieved, we have a somewhat upgraded model we like to call a Holstein! In this model, you not only get to feed, water and clean up after, you have the distinct pleasure of playing with her huge udder two or three times a day to gather up the moo juice! If you're a morning person and love to drink copious amounts of caffeine laden brown water, the Holstein is the model for you!

I just really think your calving barn is the best. How great is this to include the in floor heating system. I would think it wouldn't take much heat to keep everything on track. Shop and barn with one boiler, brilliant. We try to keep good machinery on the farm as you do. My 93 year old Dad says it best, "You pay for good equipment weather you have it or not." I think your calving and handling machinery will easily pay.

Love watching you and your daily farming life. A ‘shut up you know nothing city gal’ suggestion, but might it be quicker and easier to get a big ass leaf blower when you are doing the final clean of the calving barn (when you pitchfork the sides)....it would be a bit dusty, but would get the nasty straw out and dry the floor much quicker....and then when you refill the barn, you could blow all the straw out of the doorways which seem to get stuffed with straw and thus very hard for you to shut....anyways...hope the 🌞 shows up soon and starts warming you all up soon.

Loved your ending. I live in San Antonio and appreciate your concern for us down here, but most of us got through it OK. I admire what you guys go through in this weather, taking care of not only yourselves, but all the animals which are entrusted to your care, regardless of the weather conditions.

I am so amazed at you two and the ingenuity you possess. Real ranchers that love their work and those snot nosed, slobber faced cattle. Thank you.

Hey guys! Dang that cold wind. I hate the night time fixes with sump pumps too. Loving those cute critters and their introduction to the slappy. If auto spell keeps thinking I'm trying to spell calving, cleaving or calling instead of calving. But I honestly love how you guys keep saying claving. It's like my family saying psychotic for the word psychic. Potato potautoe. Same diff, lol.

So glad that calving season is going so well! Hope it warms up quickly for you. It was 75 here in S.E. New Mexico. Of course that might have been the wind speed. Love your videos!
