A Whiter Shade of Pale (organ part) By Rein
Музыка
Hi there! Here is my first contribute to KZread. I liked to play the organpart of A Wither Shade of Pale, so I didn't try to include any other melodies; exept for a organ pedalbass.
Maybe I will go on playing things on KZread. (I promise I will dress up properly then:P )
Enjoy!

Now 2022 and it’s still very good. Great tone too 👍
I've been playing 50 years.. Played that song more than I can count.. Wow.. Very nice job.. I don't hear anything missing and would not change anything. Nicer than I can do after a lifetime. Really takes me back.
loved this first version and love your second version. when your second version popped up on my suggestion list I didn't notice it was different until I started it. glad you have both up to enjoy.
This is still my favorite version of this iconic song, Well done Rein de Jong!
So far the best in organ and I know this video for many years already.

this is the sound i have been looking for in all the videos i have seen on people playing this song, this is just wonderful to listen too. your like laying your best performance in too this song:) i just love it:) greatings from norway=)
THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST COVER ON KZread!!!! WELL DONE 5 STARS!!
to rein de jong you captured the melancholy, nostalgia, despondency...dejection...bach on a gloomy sunday, grey rain...killer glissando... deep thanx rein, GORGEOUS AND SOULFUL
My favourite song and i listen again and again, thanks for every body concerned.

Chrisja Impett if you like it that much, you should better have it played when you are alive.
What a GREAT first contribution. I have ALWAYS enjoyed this piece and I especially enjoyed your performance today. Please continue to make contributions to KZread.
Fantastic! I've been playing this song for several years now, but I think I like your rendition better.
such a wonderful sound of your ax and you make the sound come alive so well. I can't play this enough ! 5 stars
You are so talented love it
I like this music, beautiful video. Congratulations!
Thank you 169B3, my drawbar settings are: 5885 upper with 2nd percussion soft, fast. Lower: 00555000. No vibrato! Pedal: 52 and very little reverb. By mail I cannot tell how I played the song. It's pretty much the same as Procol Harum recorded back in 1967! I use the same notes, but I played by ear and didn't listen to the song before I recorded it...so some things can vary....good luck!
In agreement with a previous comment, that is by far the best version on the organ that I have heard to this day. Excellent!
best cover i've seen so far.. simple.. yet additively captivating
Thanks for the wonderful recording. The slight keyboard clicking sounds add to illusion of being right there.
@Stagemagnet Thanks! You might like the other rendition of a Whiter Shade of Pale I made in January 2010 even better.... I love the Hammond organ...and I loved playing along with the songs of Amanda!
Very well played. Thank you for sharing!
Excellent! love it so much, thanks for your good music.
Quando si dice "suonare col cuore e con sentimento" e con le mani che "danzano" sulla tastiera... ! Grande! Gorgeous Mister Rein! Hello from Italia.
Thanks for sharing this, it will help me in learning keyboards. You got the feel....and soul!!!
I love it! Thanks for posting.
Excellent. You've got the job!
Parabéns , muito bem executado , essa música é muito linda , foi tocada no meu casamento , foi o dia mais feliz da minha vida .
Congratulations on a masterful rendition of this Classic tune... I first saw the Procul Harem play this tune live in Halifax, Nova Scotia Canada in 1967 and then incorporated it into my repertoire & it became a signature piece for the last dance at virtually every dance our group played for from that point onward till we disbanded in 1970 when I left home to attend Berklee College of Music. Of course my version is so inferior to yours that I would never consider posting it......but I do have a quick simple technical question,......you are playing a lovely accompanying line with your left hand that I cannot hear in the original performance.... "Did you write & add this line or is it simply you have a keener ear and heard that line under the rest of the mix or perhaps you heard it in one of the more recent versions of the time ? Thank you, and please keep adding more posts as you have time .... You have a wonderful touch and your fans are eager for more!!

Beautiful video! Congratulations!
Congratulations, you got the job ;-) fantastic version made it look so easy too, it transports me to a good place always loved the origional (PH) think it was 1967 when it arrived but sounds so fresh now. Thanks for shareing your talent with us all.
Great playing of a true classic, thanks.

Simply amazing! Thanks Procol Harum
JUST WONDERFULL. Heel mooi gespeeld.
simply amazing!!!!!!!!tyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
I played this song on the Organ for my GCSE Practical Examination. That was 15 years ago, watching this just made me want to go and attempt to play it again. Thank you for this, Loved the way you played it. Brought on a feeling of nostaliga. Beautifully played, Sir! This song wouldn't sound as good played on any other instrument =)
Loved it. Thank you
@HammondDomein You are a very good musician. Congratulations!
fantastic sound, and god job too.
notes are notes--but the feeling you get is amazing--great

+Soryt Het gekke is dat het niet eens zo'n moeilijk nummer is voor mij maar het klinkt zo perfect op zo'n Hammond. Er is ook enorm veel vraag naar de bladmuziek, maar die mag ik helaas niet publiceren.
Great job... thanks...
Nice! Authentic
Excellent!!!!!!!!
Brilliant!
You are brilliant, wish I could play like that.
Great Job.
@zzzut thanks! My Hammond is a '66 A100; a very nice instrument which I bought out of maybe 10 other Hammonds. This one was "the cheapest" (because of some work) but far the best for me! I also use 2nd percussion on the upper...
wow, you play this song very well. 2 thumbs up!!
Hi , Rein you are amazing player..
Nuttin' sounds like a Hammond B3 Organ.
brilliant!!!
@robstc33 Yes indeed! The 3rd one....I think about putting a trio sonata on KZread as well. But it's much more an affort than on a pipe organ to make something of it.
Love “A Whiter Shade of Pale.”
awesome
Wonderful
perfect!
Linda execução! Hammond B3 meu sonho de consumo!
omg...tht's awesome
Awesome job !! Not many can play the Hammond B3 like you brutha...
Nice work .Ya nailed the sound pretty well ,little more verb .Thanks for the correct notes
thank you that answere my other question about base line john m nice job
Nice job!
Musicas maravilhosas
ik vind het einde wel erg geniaal!
Very Good...
This is pro, especially with the bass pedals
Acho mágico tirar um som, com alguns leves toques no teclado
magnifique
Hi dpatrocchio, I used the setting Matthew Fisher (Procol Harum) used in 1967;-) : upper: 6886 . Percussion: 2nd fast and soft. Lower: 00.5550.000. Most of the time this is the best setting, but it's not wrong to vary.
Wat prachtig! Wat zou ik dit ook graag willen kunnen, alleen om dit lied te kunnen spelen :D
super rein;)
Cool Dude
Saya suka sekali lagu ini yang dibawakan secara instrumentalia... bagus sekali..
@robstc33 maybe I'll try the last part...I'll see if it works well enough. A D-100 with a PR40 might sound better for this?!
the 2:55 slide is bad ass!
@zzzut I like the B3 very much, but they are quiete expensive and they seldom have "the sound". I wrote everything myself as a memory aid in about '97 when I played for a Hammond owners club.
👍👍👍
Good on you mate. Macdonald. From downunder.
beautiful..... i'm very jealous.
Wonderful! Sounds so much like Johann Sebastian Bach. Would be fun to play this on the huge cathedral pipe organ. (I'd keep the pedal notes connected.)

@@tieukhavu8832 On the Cathedral organ I have played Air on the G String. This does not remind of that. Years ago I played Air on the G String on my trumpet with right hand and organ with left hand and pedals.
Hello, Please, can you provide the score used to play the part organ ? I can't find "the" score to play it with high fidelity.
Rein, that,s not real bad.
Very nice job!!!!! congratulations!!! Do you have a pdf for this score to send me? I would be very grateful for that
The tone is pitch perfect to the song (your playing is spot on too, down to the flourishes at the end of the verses).I'm not positive but I think Gary Brooker in Procol Harem played a Hammond B3 organ. What is the make and model of your organ?
Again realy nice one.. classic. I would add litlle more A100's reverb. Thumbs up! ;)
LE SON NOUS INTERESSE TOUJOURS
Vy thanks! I'm are owner of an A102 + leslie 251. In any case the sound of Hammond is very dependent on the calibration of the Tonewell generator and your A100 has a very beautiful sound! I will try 6886 ;-)
Anyone know the actual organ used by Procol Harum for this song??
@HammondDomein I used to have a '63 B3 (as well as my present B3000) and neither sounded as good as yours! Impressive! So clean, yet so groovy. Where did you get the score for the organ part of AWSOP? Did you write it yourself from listening to the original 45 rpm? If so, you did a terrific job.
Nice A100
Thank you so much for this clip. I love the sound of your registration. Is it the original Procol Harum Upper 688600000 and Lower 004430000? If not, your personal choice works great. Also, what Hammond model do you use? A C3? It doesn't look quite like a B3. Me, I use a B3000 and my sound (although quite good) is not as authentic as yours. Please go on posting great clips like this one as often as you like!

Just FYI I read that the original (studio) was done on a M series. A live clip from late 60s shows him playing the M and it is spot on as far as tone goes and I know alot about Hammonds from having rebuilt my own tone generator which I ended up having mixed feelings about... If it really doesn't need it don't do it (imho). You gain some clarity and volume but seem to lose a little warmth. All depends how the wax caps aged; if they aged equally leave it alone, but sometimes half the caps are way off then you have uneven tones and volumes across the keyboard which is not good then you really have to do it but like Mr. De Jong noted you have to play several to find "the one" and he is 100% correct no two sound exactly alike due to aging in different environments (humidity, temperature, factory changes, human ear factory tuning, abuse, neglect, ect). When you finally find the right one it's like a marriage but this one only tells you what you want to hear lol. M series keyboard is wired different due to less keyboard range so it has a litter different tone and some prefer the M's tone over the B-3 but you give up the range which is a bummer so it's all personal choice. To the audience I don't think there is any difference but if you are a die hard enthusiast then yes you can tell...but I'd go for the larger keyboard. I think the M does have a ballsier fatter tone because the harmonics are a bit fuller due to less repeating in the drawbar sequence due to the shorter range of the keyboard but that's really getting into the geeky nuts & bolts and a good player can make either sound great by proper use of drawbars/comping and a bit of overdrive by swapping the mellow 12aux 7 ? (forgive my memory it's been 20+ years) with a preamp tube that breaks up a little easier which my hammond tech who used to work at the factory in the 60s taught me. There is so much to know about these wonderful instruments and I am a novice but really appreciate them and mostly need mine for the classical stuff (Bach of course) so I am in the process of rebuilding a model E from the late 30s which is a real challenge but the 32 pedals, dual expression pedals and pedal coupler is a great asset for classical so I am taking this all on... Hope that helps...

@@polara01 Pondering recapping the TG on the M-102 that I own. Its notes are spot on according to my chromatic tuner, but they are sickly. I'll recap the amp first.
Very good! Which drawbars setting you used?
Great! Please, could you shared the sheet music?
Rein je speelt dit werkelijk schitterend. Heb je beide versies beluisterd.
