In school for animation one way to be sure your work was good was to remove sound or color or even just listen to the audio and if it stops making sense or if it just becomes horrible you know what to fix and make better.
Thank you for sharing this knowledge with us all. It's truly a gift back to the world.

Do the staves have to curve down? In other words, can I use a table saw at an angle which will make it more straight rather than curved. This barrel will be for decoration and not filled with any liquid

Your Cooperage videos are fantastic and I am attempting to try coopering by following them. There was another video with a similar name as this one, which I had started watching when my device’s battery died. In that one, you were speaking and there was subtitles/captioning and you were in blue and orange coveralls. I am now unable to find it. Please direct me to it.

I have a technical question, if i was to glue the staves together as well, and later remive the rings-will it fall apart?
@tmzhenatanwoodworking7252
10 ай бұрын
If you glue barrel staves together and remove the hoops, then after filling a wooden barrel with water, the wood will begin to swell and the barrel may fall apart...
I will try this with similar setting up. I will have to find a table for size and measurements. Thank you. p.s. maybe you could sell pdf for a few dollars and we can buy it from you. OK?

great video and I would like to make a barrel. What about the hoops? What diameters do I make then?
@tmzhenatanwoodworking7252
7 ай бұрын
Thank you very much!!! In order to make a metal “working” hoop, you need to calculate the approximate circumference at the edge of the barrel and a little closer to the middle of the barrel. With the help of these “working” hoops you will assemble a barrel. And on the finished, polished barrel it will be necessary to make “permanent” finishing hoops... At the end of this video, I show how to make “permanent” hoops. kzread.info/dash/bejne/lZ1hm5qJXdy3g8o.html

For a 12" barrel (which equals 30.48 cm), I recommend using 20 staves 5.0 cm wide at the widest part and 4.6 cm wide at the edges. The angle of the side faces of each riveting should be 9 degrees.

To make the staves for the wooden barrel, I use a homemade jig template that I made from a piece of laminate.
