A Weekend of B-25 Mitchell Action in Kansas City (MKC)

Ойын-сауық

In late September of 2023, the Commemorative Air Force brought B-25J “Miss Mitchell” into Kansas City for a weekend event partnered with the TWA Museum. Throughout the weekend, I had the privilege to get numerous closeup angles with this historic beauty and even take a ride in this piece of history!
North American B-25 Mitchell serial number 44-29869 (now N27493) was one of 6,608 B-25s built at Kansas City’s Fairfax plant. This plant is now a General Motors plant, but when overflying the plant, you can still see the remnants of the Fairfax plant’s runways. Be on the lookout for that as you watch the video!

I got to ride in a B-25 a few years ago, sat in the back. It was very loud inside.

This and the P-38L are my top picks for twin engine WW2 aircraft and also the Electra

4:25 that shot is of the old Fairfax airport in Kansas City Kansas just right across from MKC. In World War II, they built the B-25 Mitchell.

I was fortunate to sit in such a plane in the Bell laboratories in Buffalo. This same place was lost in a terrain following experiment later on.

If: the B-25 was launched off an aircraft carrier, and they were, could a similarly prepared P-38 also be launched at sea? Discuss... 😊

I believe it could! There's over 10,000 pounds difference between the P-38 and the B-25 in terms of gross weight. If the B-25s could be launched, the P-38s likely could too, if configured for carrier ops.
