I resonate with you so much "I get burnt out doing what I love" I always want to do EVERYTHING all the time.. Really trying to find a gentle balance and space out the things I want to do across the week opposed to cramming everything in and having no routine. Thank you for this video, so lovely.

Just today I was wondering when Emma will post again, what a sign front the Universe! Everyone, please remember that it's very easy to lose yourself in everything that you're doing, no matter what it is. Studying, working, taking care of family etc. But please remember to prioritize yourself first, and take care of yourself. Don't push yourself to the breaking point. Sit back and don't forget to breathe once in a while. Some affirmations in case nobody's told you this in a while : 💖 you matter. 💖 you're worth it. 💖 you're valued. 💖 you're valid. 💖 you are loved. 💖 you are beautiful. 💖 you've got this. 💖 things are going to get better. Hang in there everyone! It's going to be alright! We're all in this together! Lots of love ❤ ☀️

We have squirrels too. I suppose they're ubiquitous. They seem to know soft touches, perhaps they have seen me feed the ducks. Ducks are very social: only very rarely are they alone. They're also very hungry. When they see I'm about to throw some bread the hunger overwhelms the sociability, and they're willing practically to tackle another for a slice. The first one to get there was so happy and then boom! was stunned by a charging blow. It looked to me with a "not fair!" look, and I tossed him another.

"Do it afraid" you know what...that's kinda life changing...been SO afraid about starting teaching training even though that's been my dream job ever since I was 13 but I know it's going to be so intense and stressful and I too strive to be an unbothered deer (😂) and it led me to doubt my career choice. I might just have to copy your affirmation 💖

Since you asked about ways we help ourselves, I'll share a few things that help me: * my cat, just petting or cuddling her (I'm not sure what I would've done the last year without her here). Any pets are good * a looong, hot bath with all the fixings. Must have bubbles * the sound of rain * cleaning and organizing things * sushi almost always helps * hot tea, either milk tea or a fruity/peppermint herbal tea * doodling * a walk in nature * watching KZread videos that are slow paced, calm energy

This is just what I needed, as soon as I saw it pop up I got emotional. I’m in a similar position to you. I’m coming back to school after medical leave for an invisible disability and I have PTSD. I’m just trying to survive, but even the simplest things are paralyzing sometimes. I love what I study too, and it’s so frustrating having something get in the way of succeeding/enjoying it. Thank you so much for sharing, seeing someone like me being open and honest is so validating and reassuring. The upside is that we seem value the little things so much more (yes houseplants and animals and simply breathing!) Best of luck, the broken-brain nerds are in this together!

What I do when I'm not doing well: 1. Turn on more lights in the room I'm in or open the blinds if it's daytime. Light helps with depression. 2. Distract myself with something comforting like a favorite childhood book or movie, etc. Something I know by heart and can just consume joyfully without worrying about having to necessarily pay attention to it. 3. EAT. So much of my bad mental heath days come from forgetting to eat/not eating enough. Remember to nourish your bodies! 4. In the same vein, remember to drink enough water! 5. Try not to procrastinate too much, as this can lead to feelings of anxiety about the stuff you're putting off.

I'm better now because of you i felt cozy and relaxed 💜 when i'm in a bad mood i watch you videos and cozy videos in general, or maybe watch friends, read something fun, journal, do yoga, draw (i'm not that good at it but no problem ) i also like to change my routine, sit in the balcony and drink some mint tea, all of this is helpful 💙

Hi Emma. I just want to say that your vlogs have been a really helpful escapism for me specially these past few weeks. I've been heartbroken and shattered and left hanging by a guy I considered special in my life and some days the pain is simply unbearable that I cannot leave my bed, so I resort to watching your vlogs playlist and I'm always reminded that I should prioritize myself, just like what you're doing. I really appreciate your content and thank you for being a role model in loving oneself. Much love and blessings ✨

That is actually rather true--doing things that you don't take too seriously. The problem with doing things that I am even minutely competent at is that I immediately go into 'perfectionist' mode, entering into this vicious cycle of just putting in all my effort to be good at it, getting stressed up when I think don't think it is anywhere I expect it to be, and then putting in more effort to be good at it. Goofing off at things just really helps--no pressure and no expectations to meet:)

I’ve been doing well, Emma :) I’m also exploring how to take care of my mental health. I’ve been in therapy for over a year now (on and off) and I agree that it is incredibly helpful. As for what I personally do when I’m not feeling well, I’ve found that playing music, or doing some sort of art in general, helps to stimulate my mind in a relaxing way. There are times, of course, when I’m unable to do anything but wait it out, and I think I’m starting to accept that on some level (before it frustrated me). If you do read this, I hope you find something within my comment that’s helpful! Your video certainly helped me to reflect on my own life, so thank you :)

putting time aside for myself before being productive is something I recently implemented in my own life and it's been doing absolute wonders for my mental health! I'm also studying full time, working part time and have an apartment to take care of (like yourself), and I've begun getting up at the crack of dawn so I can read for a couple of hours before I need to do anything else. I've had more energy during the day and I feel like I'm in a better headspace when I do need to either be at work or need to study or complete assignments

I loved this video so much and I would love to see more of this kind!❤️ I used to always get so stressed and anxious when I had a lot to do because I had no sense of balance.😅I'm slowly learning to give myself time and while I still feel overwhelmed sometimes, it's much better. Being around nature is ever so soothing because it helps to remind me that the world doesn't depend on whether I complete all my tasks or not and it helps put things into perspective.

I am so so grateful to have found your channel, Emma, because I have found such a lovely and comforting presence in you. I also am currently studying psychology, and videos like this really make me happy, I love to talk about mental health and therapy and to see other people talking about it. Just seeing humanity and vulnerability is… touching in a way. And as a person who deals with anxiety and depressive episodes, seeing people like you, who the audience perceives as always perfect, put together, productive, who also have bad mental health days, is something I find so so important. Especially in a world where we have to keep hiding our struggles, just to keep being acceptable to society. There is so much stigma, and people suffer in silence so much that they think they are alone, or even worse, “crazy”

hey emma, i'm so grateful you decided to make this video. i think it's really important to have days and time for ourselves, away from the stress of academics/work. i myself am going through the last stretch of my finals, which has been taking so much personal time away from me and making me feel stressed and burned out. these past few days i've just felt so much dread and heaviness that my days are only filled with studying. this video came at the perfect time, and it's a lovely reminder to always prioritise our mental health over everything else - thank you for this breath of fresh air, i loved watching you just spend quiet moments by yourself, in nature, doing things you love, spending time with people you love and just existing.

I'm glad you're taking care of yourself! :D It's always hard to remind ourselves that it's okay to take time just to take care of ourselves and relax. One of the most positive changes for me in the past year for taking care of myself has been getting back into reading for leisure, as well as for school. I just sort of managed to make the mental distinction, to create two separate bandwiths for reading to learn and reading for fun. And it's always good to finish a book, to have the satisfaction of something completed, something "checked off," something that can never be taken away from you. :)

oh man so many relatable moments in this one. I've been feeling so many similar things recently, I'm also a uni student and I just moved into my first big girl apartment. I've really been feeling that struggle between different parts of my life and struggling to keep up with just me, doing things that make me feel like me and not just doing things because I have to do those things for work or school or whatever. It's heckin overwhelming, and it was really good to hear that I'm not the only person that feels like this sometimes (: Also when you were talking about your class where you talk about trauma and loss, I love what you were saying about going to uni and learning about life. It took me a really long time to reconcile with going to uni because it has always felt like I have to because it will help me with my career and I need to be educated and blah blah, but now I go into it with the mindset that I'm here because I want to learn about myself and I want to learn about the world and how to walk in it. Thanks for the vlog, I hope your week is going well

hi emma! your videos are so wonderful - thank you so much for making them :) I remember you mentioning earlier that you love anne of green gables (halloo - fellow canadian here!), and thought that you might enjoy the emily of new moon trilogy; it's also by l.m. montgomery, and follows a similiar-ish style. not quite as popular as anne - but it held a lot of the same nostalgia and carefree spirit. I found it by surprise a few weeks ago: I'm reading it right now and actually really liking it.

Hey Emma! Thank you so much for this video, it's definitely needed. I went through a time where I got exhausted super easily so I slept way more than what should be usual. This might help you, but it wasn't getting enough sleep that was my issue, nor was it pushing myself too hard in a day. It was because I wasn't getting my 3-4 liters of water, nor was I getting the right amount of fats, protein and iron in my diet. Food and water were my issue haha. Dunno if that helps.

So many people think that making some time for the things you love is selfish and irresponsible ,but that is not true. Not only do we all deserve to be happy and have some recreation time ,but when you do the things you love, you will be able to do your work better and more efficiently. Everything is in balance, so obviously you can't do it in excess ,but the point is, if you really like playing video games for example, play a couple of rounds, so you'll be happier and be able to do what you need to do. Don't let other people shame you for taking some time for you. They're not as healthy, I assure you. This go, go, go society does take its toll on our mental and physical heath.

What a beautiful place you live in. I wish I could see something more than buildings on my walks. Need to move out from the city! Keep going!!

14:28 I think the plant is an Avenca or something in the same family. It took a while for mine to get used to the house and actually grow Love the video btw it was exactly what I was needing to wind down

Yes, that plant with the tiny leaves is a fern. I don't recall what type exactly though. I have two of them and they are a bit finicky. The leaves dry out really quickly, but dead leaves doesn't mean dead plant, so just keep an eye out for new fiddlenecks if the leaves die.

Mental health vlogs are more than welcome. Incorporate them in at whatever frequency works for you (twice a month? whenever you feel like it?).

You might not see this, but this video was the push that made me sign up for therapy after debating for 5 years. So thanks, hehe.

Also, I just wish you could have all the happiness in this world. I don’t personally know you, but people like you have to be protected: people like you, while growing, shine like stars

There are some apps that allow you to identify your babies and also remedies for them, soil tips, weather, etc ❤️
