agree, I think that reading is what really qualifies it for "worst man" status. If it was true, exposing it early on would be best. It's almost compassionate to expose patricians hidden feelings now. If it's a lie though, just pure fraudulent attempt to ruin their joy? That's a fuckin worst man.

There’s so much lore created in this. The fact you can imagine Matthew and Jacob were friends for that long only to be torn apart, presumably because of Matthew’s relationship with Patricia in college. We love a story.

@@Levacqueif I had to guess I’d say they liked him until middle school/high school when he started to act out and dragged Matthew down with him. Then in college when Matthew and Jacob had a falling out over Patricia (maybe Jacobs ex?) Mathew’s parents said they were right about him and then Mathew cut him out of his life, finally getting his act together and getting a good stable job right out of college. I also don’t think Mathew’s parents particularly like Patricia but she makes Mathew happy and all they want is for him to be happy. Mathew’s dad probably confronts Jacob after the speech and Jacob is about to teach an old man a lesson when Patricia finally screams at him to leave. Drunk and embarrassed Jacob returns to his car and tragically crashes into a tree, a quick death. Patricia and Mathew annulled the marriage over this trauma of Mathew losing his life long friend and realizing Patricia never truly loved him. She loved his stable job and secure future.
