Your brief point about fake Casios and how “just a few dollars” can be such a big deal for some people was honestly a sobering thought. Makes one thankful to be able to live so comfortably. I appreciate you’ve got that perspective. I won’t name names, but I feel many people in the watch community don’t.

Right, I recently gave someone a watch as a present, nothing real fancy (compared to my collection), but an ok-ish microbrand watch. During a conversation later with their significant other they were saying how nice it was and how expensive it must have been, my response was "no not really, I mean it's a nice watch and it looks much more expensive than it is, but it's only around $400." Well their jaws dropped, they were amazed and completely shocked that someone would spend that much on a watch. To me, it's the kind of watch I'll buy cause I'm bored and it looks cool, but to them it's pure luxury. Really gives you a little reality check.

It is all the watch 99% of people will ever need. Cheap and cheerful. I wore one as my daily in the 90s. It lasted almost a decade until the strap fell apart, never had to change the battery. Bought a second F-91W for $12 a few years ago and gave it to my son. He loves it and wears it often.

3:06 Funnily enough the F-91W is famous for greatly understating its water rating. These pieces are known to survive being taken on scuba dives, consistently. And if it does break, it's cheap to replace.

I own this watch as well amongst many others more premium watches. I mean, the springbars on my Tudor costs more than this. I bought my F-91w in Phnom Penh (a genuine Casio store) in 2008 and it still works. Same battery. It's crazy. Also, I wore that specific watch to 5.500 meters height in Nepal and when I got dive certified in Thailand, so about 15-18 meters depth. Somehow, that watch just wanted to go explore and live to tell the story. I did however have to replace the strap about 10 years ago. I still take it out from time to it, its fund and cool and great for running.

But more importantly, check out all those colors! You love colors! Plus, it has a cool history of being an authentically important tool watch for a whole subculture (surfers during the Rad Era) because of a pretty elegant technical innovation--buttons that you can push underwater without compromising the water resistance. Lemme know if you wanna borrow mine (it's hot pink and neon green).

Can you review some Invicta pieces? I had no idea they could be so... Invicta. I have a feeling the satire would be absolute gold

I love this watch but on my 7 1/2 inch wrist it looks really really small

With a 7 inch wrist ur never gonna enjoy chewing on the surplus wristband whilst daydreaming in school like we did as kids in the 90s.....

I never got a F-91W as the World Time AE1200WH-1A (black resin) is the best cheap Casio for me. They’re like $20 on Amazon so just a few more dollars for some upgrades.

It's actually above $34 here in many Canadian retailers. Considered a luxury compared to many cheaper digital watches here. Goes to show the Canadian economy

These were (and probably still are) available in every military Exchange and were/are the desired watch for military personnel who want to LOOK LIKE they take PT seriously, but don't want to actually take PT seriously (like those weirdos wearing the G-Shocks and Iron Men). The watch choice for those trying to achieve MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE STANDARDS.
