PLEASE RE-DRILL those leg holes at the right angle so you don't need the cross beems. The legs don't need to be right at the ends of the bench and you won't be able to see the mistake because its at the bottom!!!

👍🏻👍🏻 I think most professional homeowners would do the same. 🤣🤣 For small stuff, I like to at least a paint can full of concrete... (1/2-buried) to keep the legs up a few inches off of the damp mud (if I can't find a good enough stone). For bigger tools (like the bench & saw) I prefer to use a 1/2 of a 5 gallon bucket of concrete... (flipped upside down after it cures) usually throw a bit of scrap screen, fence, or re-bar in it for good measure & let any fasteners (like J-bolts) stick out thru the center bottom of the bucket (set it on cinder block to cure).
It seems the West coast man took a great looking bench and diminished it with those shabby looking braces.

Something I use to try and prevent my tools from rusting is toolbox dehydrators. They are larger versions of the little packets found in electronics. The 1x4 cross braces were quick and dirty but they seem to do the trick some log style braces to match the legs would have made the fizz factor 10x.
Time for a do over. Cut that top to half thickness. Glue and dowel together to give you a functional working width. It'll be the same weight. Put in some proper timber framed legs and braces. You are very smart and you know this already. This bench is a video trolling project to get comments and repeat views. Heck, you made me comment three times. I get it, that's how you make your living. You knew how to make it right all along. But if you did that people wouldn't have commented nearly as much. East Coast man would have made the bench from oak using nothing but an axe, a broad axe, and an auger - timber framed
Ouch! This East coast man would have redone the legs! LOL!
My father used to use one of those folding rulers. He cut a number of pieces of wood the exact length of the ruler that had a little pencil mark somewhere on the cutoff piece. Biggest argument we ever got into was when I went to help him build a deck. He got mad at me because I was measuring things with my (in his view) highly inaccurate tape measure. I taught him that you only need to cut lumber for a deck to within a sixteenth of an inch, and he was not getting within 1/128th of an inch by making two measurements with his folding ruler. After he passed away, I found a really nice and fairly new tape measure in a cabinet that held his tools. I found the folding ruler packed away in a box.
Will this now bow or split a bit?

Us East Coast Men wouldn’t drop start our saws and forget to wear our chaps!
Wood does dry out quick on the ends. That’s why I store my 18” rounds East/West orientation for a year before cutting into cordwood. I also think it looks better than a fence.
One thing that you forgot, wax the ends of the cross bracing boards...
Are you wearing body armor under your shirt or a back brace of some sort? I thought you put on some weight at first, but then knew that wasn’t the case. God bless and take care.
The only thing now is because you’ve gone through the grass which is the toughest part every time it rains your bench will sink now
as an east coast man I did get nervous while you were using that saw but I muscled through the best I could
being an east coast man, I'm here to say its not the size of the chainsaw that matters its how you use it. :)
