Hi, I'm from Somerset County, Maryland, by the name of Horner. I visited Frome once in the 90's and saw a parish church with lots of Horners buried in and outside the church. Many of the men were named John, which is my grandfather's name. If I'm remembering correctly, there was a statue of a young WW I soldier on a horse in the church. I can't remember his name, but he was the image of my brother, exactly! I wonder if there's a connection between me and Frome in Somersetshire, England? 😊

Hi Denise Thank you for your comment. Many people from the West Country emigrated to America. You might have a local connection. Have you tried using one of the genealogy websites?

Great video; I enjoyed so much, I am a Wheatleigh/Whatley descendant from Texas in America.

I visited Frome a couple of years ago, it took so long to get there by train that I only had just over an hour there. The direction to the town from the station was not well signposted and was quite confusing, it was quite walk. I was not as fortunate with the weather, the day was very overcast but at least it was dry. One thing struck about Frome, there was so many dustbins and refuse boxes in front of beautiful buildings. It was not one of my favourite places but I pleased to have seen it, I think it would have helped to have seen a video like yours beforehand, I really find these kind of videos very helpful

The amount of bins Somerset insist on is amazing! Best to avoid bin days. Frome does have some amazing buildings and streets to explore.

@@rolandstravels To be fair, people have to live in Frome and they need refuse services, something that visitors like me should accept. However, it would be good if Civic Leaders in Frome could improve signposting making it easier for first time visitors arriving by train to find their way to the town centre

Nice, but why do none of these videos take in Gentle Street? It goes back to the origins of Frome, is entirely paved and consists almost entirely of 16th - 18th Century houses. It was the main entrance to Frome. It also leads up to Gore Hedge which has many historic associations.

There is a video with Gentle Street included. See the Frome Plaque Tour. There are so many parts of Frome to include and I can see a few more videos being made here 😀. Thank you for watching and your comment, it’s greatly appreciated. The Frome Plaque Trail in 4K kzread.info/dash/bejne/mKNouKaLm5OugLQ.html
