In September 2022, we climbed the Texel Lighthouse. Via a spiral staircase of 118 steps you climb six floors of the tower. In this video a short impression of our visit.
Texel got a lighthouse in 1864. This striking red lighthouse can be found at the northernmost tip of the island near de Cocksdorp. During World War II, the lighthouse came under heavy fire. The bullet holes can still be seen in the old tower that remained standing. The new tower was built around this. On the fourth floor you can walk between the old and the new wall and see the bullet holes. You can also see this in our video.
On top of the tower you look out over the North Sea, Wadden Sea, the northern part of Texel and nearby Vlieland. We definitely recommend a visit to the lighthouse. For more information and to buy tickets go to the website: www.vuurtorentexel.nl
