A Visit to New York City’s Only Pencil Boutique | Comma Queen
Prescriptivists dislike the use of “impact” as a verb, preferring “have an impact.” Mary wishes we could influence the rampant popularity of “to impact,” but in English nouns have a way of verbing.
This pet peeve was recorded on location at C. W. Pencil Enterprise, the pencilophiliac’s nirvana on the Lower East Side. Caroline Weaver, the proprietor of New York's only pencil boutique, joins us with some graphite goodies.

So nice to see Caroline Weaver on this video. She and her wonderful shop are sorely missed!
Love Pencils, Hope this shop takes off! Great online site also...
What a wonderful video! I discovered the Blackwing 602 some years ago. As a picky ball-point pen person, I never thought I would get excited by a pencil, but the 602 changed my mind. What a joy it is to write with. I noticed right away that the proprietor agrees with me. ;)
Air Traffic Control has used "contact" as a verb for decades as in "Contact departure on 132.9"
I use the word "affect" as in "This video had a curious impact on me so, in effect, you could say that I was affected by this video."
neato
good video
That tattoo had an impact on my opinion of the proprietor.

Oh, dear Comma Queen, you might have done your friend and her shop a favor by giving the ADDRESS on Forsyth Street!
don't know about Mr. Hard(t)muth, but Mr. Budweis, but the latter's name hints at a male ancestor who came from the same place in Bohemia where the GREAT "Budwar" beer is brewed -- and which was purloined and, dare I say? -- BASTARDIZED by the US's disgusting-tasting "Budweiser" beer. Someone who comes from Budwar is called (in German) a "Budweiser" (like Frankfurter and Berliner). By the way, no one in Germany calls a sausage a Frankfurter, but a German donut with a jelly center is called a Berliner!
Hipsters
I think the cringe-worthy "impactful" has gained popularity because of effective-affective confusion.
