I have never been scared of cemeteries because, the dead are at peace. I love old cemeteries, I always wonder what type of lives they lived. Cemeteries remind me of how precious life is. Wonderful video

I used to walk through a cemetery on my commute. I enjoyed the beauty and peace of the place, and it reminded me to use my time well. I'm concerned about Americans' increasingly unnatural relationships with death. I saw my first corpse when I was 13 and had seen 20 corpses, mostly of acquaintances, over the next decade, so it bothers me today to see deceased acquaintances posting on Facebook "from Heaven" because a demented relative in denial doesn't respect the person enough to let the person rest in peace. I know my spouse would be such a person, so I've told Facebook to delete my account when my sibling notifies them of my death. Facebook doesn't like doing it, but I want to rest in peace when my time comes despite my relatives' lack of basic human decency. Also, I stop socializing with people if they impersonate deceased people online.

I listen to The War of the Worlds broadcast every Halloween, and a radio adaptation of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. My favorite time of year!🎃🍁🍂

Lucky me! I had my dream Halloween Party! I made gravestones for every guest I invited and they were in my yard. I found enough white sheets to cover every stick of furniture in my house. I used only candles for light. Lanterns, apples filled with votives, pumpkins, candelabras. I had a wonderful sound track of crows, creaks, bats and owls. And of course I was the mistress of the night, long black wig, pale face, black, black and black. My friends talked about that party for many years. I believe it happened in the mid eighties. So you can count how many years ago! Happy Halloween! Love your videos! I live in a small little house now in the cornfields of Iowa. You tube keeps me entertained!

My dream costume is a handmade cosplay of Winifred Sanderson! I would pay extra attention to the smallest details of her dress, and have a realistic wig! As for my perfect Halloween party, I would LOVE to spend it on Sleepy Hollow. I live in Montreal and there isn’t much action during Halloween. I just know someday I’ll have to come and visit and Halloween seems to be the best time of the year to celebrate 🖤🍁🧡

My dream party is to do a dark Greek Underworld party. I have the dream of having a home where the front is decorated to look like the entrance to the underworld complete with a skull arch/tunnel leading to the side gate to the back yard. Before entering everyone pays the ferryman a coin that was provided with the invite. Then as people walk through they cross the River Styx which uses the LED light projector that looks like water, then when you get through, the yard is decorated with giant spray foam rocks and boulders that are spray painted black with orange and red LED lights going through to make them look like brimstone. Then random Greek mythology/underworld/monster decor. Food is Greek mythology theme (especially pomegranate) and everyone is dressed to fit the theme. Then I would be Persephone: Queen of the Underworld.

I ❤ the vibe going on behind you with the vintage Halloween decorations...Reminds me of my Halloweens as a child...It was my favourite holiday and I loved to make my own decorations...I made a haunted house with cardboard boxes...My mother kept it for years and the children who,came trick or treating loved it...I still love Halloween but don't decorate like I used to...Happy Halloween to you both🎃🍁🍂

My perfect Halloween would be something like what I experienced as a child in the late 50’s early 60’s. Trick or treating all over the neighborhood and getting wax teeth, wax whistles, pop corn balls, pennies, peanut butter cookies, and trinkets.

My dream Halloween party was during lockdown. My son’s family lives near by and we were only associating with each other so I decided since the grand kids couldn’t go trick or treating to have a big party for them. There was punch with plastic eyeballs floating in the bowl, a graveyard cake which I used to make annually when my sons were in grade school, mummies(hot dogs wrapped in crescent rolls), witches fingers(almond cookies made with matcha and with sliced almond fingernail), spiders(caramel center with pretzel legs) and candy. We had a karaoke jam, dance contest, played spider web corn hole, blind folded my grand sons and had them walk under the dogwood trees (hang man’s tree)which had popcorn & m&m filled gloves hanging down to scare and to grab for snacking. Their favorite game was “There’s a ghost in the graveyard” where one person puts on a big white t-shirt and they are the ghost and hide, there is a mausoleum (home base) and the kids run around the “graveyard” until someone sees the ghost and yells…there’s a ghost in the graveyard!!!! The ghost tries to catch someone before they get back to home base, then they become the ghost. My favorite costume was last year when my friends did characters from the Addams family and I was cousin ITT (and thing). We even made the house as a back drop.

By the way, I also saw your beautiful costumes at the headless horseman ball on Instagram. Always amazing looking couple. What would I like to do for my ultimate Halloween party? Well funny enough. I've always thought it would be cool to have an extreme almost Marie Antoinette. Look for the queen of hearts and have a haunted wonderland theme for a Halloween party. It just so happens that this Christmas I am for the first time ever part of a design team for an estate that's over 100 years old here in Miami and the theme is going to be Christmas with Alice in wonderland. my birthday is Halloween so I'm like Halloween should be all year round. Here in Indiana there is a state park ,Potato creek . We would get a picnic basket together blanket strap it to the motorcycle drive to the park and in the park is an old cemetery we would have our picnic in, very well taken care of . Aw, you get to celebrate your birthdays together. Happy early birthdays to you! Mine is right after Halloween (Nov. 3). That sounds nice that you went to a musical for Sleepy Hollow! I didn't know such a thing existed! I am glad you two go for so many walks. I like going for walks too with my husband and kids. I'm not much for horror myself, and am with you that Sleepy Hollow with Christina Ricci and Johnny Depp is the most I can do. I loved Wishbone as a kid hehe. The animated Sleepy Hollow movie I saw a bunch when I was a child. Been a long time. How do you find Estate Sales? I have only ever seen a sign maybe once or twice for those. Maybe I would have to look around online. One of my best friends is Swedish and has told me the same things about how she had not seen a pumpkin before. I also wasn't allowed to go trick-or-treating growing up, though we had "harvest festivals" and could dress as nice things rather than scary things. I never knew professional pumpkin carvers existed. The job is year round too? Jonas, you are extremely gifted. Did you start off with carving wood? Oh, you two actually live in Sleepy Hollow? That's awesome. One of my best friends from high school grew up with a graveyard across the street from her house and she loved going in there all the time and wanted to learn stories of some of the people buried there. My husband's great-grandparents are buried there and just have small name plates on the ground that are probably covered by moss now. Xena and Hercules is a great couple costume! I watched both of those shows when they were coming out. I never did a couple costume. It looks fun though. Maybe one day. I'm not entering the giveaway because I'm not too crazy about Halloween, but I love learning and dressing up anyway. Sorry I comment such long responses. I type while watching through the video.

Sleepy Hollow favorite Halloween story! I watch the Disney version, the scifi channel movie, and one that looked like it was done by Hallmark--whatever iteration I can find. I forgot about Wishbone so I'll have to revisit it, I remember my kids loved it back in the day!

And if you happened to see a bright colorful fall folk art painting of the tavern as soon as you walk in the door off to the right , I was commissioned by the tavern to paint it 😊

Love the idea 0f Apple Cider Floats! Must try this as we just bought apple cider for a fun country sot with home made donuts and pumpkins and many kinds of gifts and maple syrup even! But what a fun day we had. So can certainly agree with your fun times for Halloween! Apple donuts can now be baked and not fried, and they are delicious and hie baked is great, Dipped in sugar cinnamon while still warm out of oven one side at a time or maybe just do one side whatever you please. Recipe can be found online, and it really is easy. But you do need two bake like cupcake of muffin pans, but the pan is made different as it is for donuts only, so it is a mold for them alone but like that kind of pan. It would make one done at a time. But also, fun to go out and buy them good and hot too, whatever one would rather do, but can be fun to bake together and enjoy the aroma and the taste and maybe even share some with neighbors, friends. family? Our second son's birthday is today Oct 15th! Our daughter- in -laws is the 29th and our eldest son and his wife's anniversary is the 17th! Busy month, and now you both have birthdays! Happy Birthday, Lindsay and Jonas! (our children do not live so close, but we did party yesterday!) Yay! (My husband and I) But we did wish him happy birthday too, of course! Close to our hearts, Jonas did a great job with how he carved pumpkins, it was unbelievable what creativity he has, you both have really!! Loved the video on 'Sleepy Hollow and the story or' legend' of' Hulda, the sleepy Hollow Witch' (not so much a witch, as wise women, who loved herbs and being kind to all. Loved it and to be honest I live in Mohawk Valley in upstate NY and never been to 'Sleepy hollow' and did not know 'this" other legend ! I have friends in DAR and they go to Tarrytown for meetings sometimes. Guess I am missing all this fun! Pres. Van Buren's youngest son married a niece of Washington Irving! They built on to the home, and lived at the' Lindenwood' Home in 'Kinderhook NY'. He lived there after his term was over as President of the U.S, A home of great interest and is dressed in the furnishings and grand fashion of same era as they lived there, and he really loved his family nearby. They did hire Irish people from potato famine to help out as the home was large. It has over 30 rooms and there is a store and tours given! Mostly during Summer, I believe? Have been there but forgot just all the dates as we went during summer months, It is very nice area. Country area! Lovely home!

Grave rubbings are not legal anymore, it is damaging to the gravestones. So take photos not rubbings! :) I agree they make cool art!

This was fun. Lots of good questions here. I too looked into places to stay to be able to enjoy some of the Great Jack O' Lantern Blaze festivities - I live in NYS nearly 4 hours away from the Blaze site, so too far to comfortably drive home late at night. I was surprised that lodging seems to be a missed opportunity in the area. There was availability at the time in a scattering of hotels/motels, but unfortunately, everything available had pretty poor reviews (cleanliness, noise, etc.). Maybe I would look more into vacation rentals or something next time. I'm determined!
