Your video essay really made my day! While watching, I couldn't help but want to answer some of your questions since I know so much about the game. I enjoyed your essay so much and would encourage you to keep making more. I'm having an absolute blast seeing and hearing your reaction and analysis. In case you are interested, here are some clarifications to your questions: *- The Hard Cut* There was 100% supposed to be a recap on MCSM ep 1. There always is, except for ep 5 and ep 7. XCageGame likely cut out the recap from the video. Also, no glitch of any kind switches your decision between going after Magnus or Ellegaard, so this leads me to believe they changed their decision. (on a side note, I'm glad you were able to watch Magnus's route and experience something new instead) *- The Release of the Episodes* The period between the release of every episode is not unusual; it's very much a TellTale Games thing. That's always been how they release their episodic games, and every TellTale Games player is aware of its inconsistency. Also, the first four episodes were released consistently because the game was near completion, so they decided to release one episode a month. Everything from ep 5 and after had inconsistent releases because they worked on one episode at a time. Especially when they didn't plan on having more than 5 episodes for season 1, but the positive feedback they got from the game at the time before ep 5 was released had them working and adding episodes for the Portal Hall arc. *- Boom Town is not Actually Axel's Hometown* Axel, Olivia, and Jesse come from the town Gabriel runs, which doesn't have a name. Some people refer to it as Endercon since that's the only canon name we have of the place. Axel is a Magnus fanboy hence why he knows about Magnus running Boom Town and obsessing over everything when he visits for the first time. Same thing with Olivia in Redstonia, overwhelmed by Ellegaard and the incredible Redstone machinery. Neither come from Redstonia or Boom Town but have always wanted to visit their idols. *- The Bandit Named Nohr* Apart from ep 2, Nohr also makes an appearance at the end of ep 4, along with the Death Bowl announcer and other Redstonian engineers, but that's about it; you can't interact with them outside of ep 2. Her name was dropped because when you meet people in Redstonia they introduce themselves, or by hovering your cursor over them, you can see their names or titles like "School Boy." Whereas when you meet people in Boom Town, due to the action sequence, you can only know their names if they say it out loud. The only names of the resident griefers mentioned in Boom Town are Nohr, TNT Dustin (Nohr's partner), and the Death Bowl Announcer. *Fun Fact:* TNT Dustin from Boom Town and School Boy from Redstonia are voiced by Matthew Mercer, who also plays Aiden, the Butcher named Otis, and the unnamed griefer guy that called Reuben a weird cat. *- The Arrow in Axel's Leg* Believe it or not, if Jesse kept the Amulet to himself rather than passing it to Axel, Jesse would have to take on the booby traps, and if he failed the last one, Jesse would also get an arrow to the leg. When meeting up with Axel and Reuben, Axel doesn't mention it either. *- Pink Wool* Yes, if you picked pink wool, Jesse would have built a pig for his platform. In the game, you can build 3 pig statues. This is the first statue. The second statue isn't really a choice; Jesse's friends build it to distract the Wither Storm in ep 3 (it's an easter egg, so keep an eye out for that), and last is a hidden choice during the Wither Storm fight in ep 4. Pink wool is also brought up casually later in the overall game. *- Going with Axel or Olivia* *Fun Fact:* When you go to Boom Town with Axel, Jesse is crowned as the King of Boom Town. But if you go with Olivia to Redstonia, Axel is crowned as King instead, and that's brought up later in Season 2, depending on what you picked in Season 1. In both cases, Olivia embarrasses herself in front of Ellegaard but still becomes her protégé with or without Jesse's help. *- Wither in the Background* None of the characters reacted to the Wither Storm in the background because it was a glitch. If you rest at the temple, the Wither Storm catches on and darkens the sky, spawning monsters. If you head out at night, you only have to worry about the nighttime monsters. XCageGame decided to head out at night instead of resting in the temple. Since both choices involve a monster fighting sequence, a glitch occurred where you'll see the Wither in the background for a short period. *- Ellegaard's name* You're not the only one who hates her name. Everyone calls her Ellegaard, but the one character who doesn't like her name is Magnus, who simplifies her name and calls her "Ellie" instead, along with a bunch of other nerdy nicknames. *- Fighting Style* I also love how Minecraft Story Mode is unique in terms of including different fighting styles. One example you mentioned was Ivor, who uses potions. There's also Axel, who alternates between using his fists and TNT, Olivia creates Redstone traps and sometimes a bow as Ellegaard used to, Petra uses her enchanted golden sword, Lukas uses a bow and arrow, Reuben hits and flees, and Jesse can use any weapon including a fishing rod or flint & steel. Even the pickaxe was used to kill mobs, and the killing action was beautifully animated. *Spoiler Alert:* 3 additional characters use the axe as their primary weapon, and one character uses a shield. I'm sorry if this was long; I was really getting into it! Hopefully, this clears up some of your questions and is insightful in some way. Once again, I love your video essays, and I can't wait to see more of them in the future!

super late to seeing this video but if you were wondering the reason why the wither storm is in the background of the action shots in ep 2 when they're going to soren's base it's because the choice of waiting till morning to go and going during the night provide the same action scenes but the wither storm catches up with you if you choose to sleep. i presume it was an oversight that the wither storm was left into some of the scenes

I liked your side comment about fighting styles. It really does add to the visual interest in combat scenes. Later episodes show arrow stabbing, martial arts moves, dual wielding, strategic flint and steel use, and shield bashing among other things.

I always get a kick out of the way you pronounce the word "idears'.

1:48 So basically telltale releases their games in the episodic format and all their games are 5 episodes. The final 3 are supposed to be DLC, but your copy of the game had all of them so you didn’t have to worry about allat. Basically they were made as addons.

fun fact for ya: there is actually no official reason for why Magnus and Ellegaard don't get along. They came up with a canonical reason for why Petra uses a golden sword (fun fact: it's actually called 'Ms. Butter'), but they never bothered to think of a reason for why Magnus and Ellegaard hate eachother xD And a little observation I made: the fact that Petra uses a golden sword is kind of interesting. Obviously there's the canonical reason (she thinks it's funny that the people she defeats will know that they were defeated by a type of weapon almost nobody bothers to use because it's so weak), but there's also another thing about it that might play a factor. It's just not really mentioned much anywhere because people tend to either forget it's a thing in the first place, never find out at all, or don't bother because the base weapon is so weak. Enchantments. Golden armor and tools have the highest chance of getting good enchantments out of any material in the game. If you were to say, enchant a sword, you'd have a higher chance of getting sharpness 4 on a golden sword than on say, a diamond sword. Given Petra's background, there's a chance she'd know about this and be like 'yeah sure I'll try it.'

the delay between chapters was because chapter 6 and onwards was dlc!!!

I suspected ender man take damage in water, so there would be a reason for them to not be able to teleport into water

Nice part 2 of Minecraft Story Mode, or aka Minecraft Story Mode Season 1 Ep 2 Assembly Required, which in my opinion is my least favorite Ep in the game, this ep is much shorter than the other Ep, and a lot more could have been explained!!! Elegard and Magnus were really wasted characters now since we know in Ep 4 which you will get to know, why the “heroes” are acting this way, but going back to why I felt Magnus and Elegard is totally wasted is the fact they bicker a lot and we don’t see them again until Ep 3!!!!!
