A Very Famous Bridge on the River Kwai

A day trip to kanchanaburi Thailand to visit this Historic and equally Famous Landmark.
Construction on this famous bridge ran between 1942-43 with the intention of establishing the Burma Railway to ship cargo for the Japanese Military through Thailand into Burma.
It is estimated that as many as 60,000 prisoners of war and forced labourers contributed to the bridge and line construction with estimates of 13,000 giving their lives in the process earning the project it’s title as
the “Death Railway”
Author Pierre Boulle wrote a mostly fictitious novel that uses the bridge as it’s setting which later became a screenplay resulting in the movie
“The Bridge on The River Kwai”

The bridge remains as an Historical site and tourist attraction spanning what is today known as the Khwae Noi River.
