    LISTEN TO THE EXPERT AND DO WHAT SHE SAYS... LOVE YOUR VIDEOS. I always tied a knot and then hid the yarn. That's not professional indeed. These buttonhole bands are so beautiful. The horizontal is my preference but I love them all. Thanks for taking the time to make these videos. I truly appreciate your kindness. Your viewers are as grateful as me. I have to sit down and concentrate. Sometimes I find my balls of yarn downstairs or under the bed. With 9 cats ages between 20 years and 6 months, it is scary. When the balls of yarn roll downstairs the next recipient is my 7 month Newfoundland. Munch munch and then run away with it. That doesn't stop me from knitting with a new ball of yarn. Thanks for sharing and caring. HAPPY NEW YEAR🍾🍾🍾

    This tutorial is amazing. It is clear and concise. I also appreciate that you took the time to explain why you choose a specific way of doing things. I believe that a truly great teachers do not teach just a skill. The why allows a learner to apply it later in other situations. Application is the ultimate goal of teaching. Thank you.

    As always, you are my go-to knitting video person because you are so clear and thorough. HOWEVER, for loooong videos like this one, video timestamps would be very easy for you to include, and would be a big time saver, so each of your 87K+ subscribers doesn't have to poke around in a 20 minute video to home in on the exact segment they need. Don't get me wrong, it's very useful to watch this video in its entirety to decide which buttonhole you want to use. But when revisiting it to get to the ONE you want to use, timestamps would be much appreciated by thousands of knitters who love that you share your vast knowledge with us! To wit, bone structure/timestamps for this video: 0:50 for the beginning of the YO eyelet buttonhole 2:23 for the beginning of the 3-row YO eyelet buttonhole 3:18 for the beginning of the horizontal one row buttonhole 7:50 for the beginning of the vertical buttonhole 9:10 how to work the SECOND row for ALL of the buttonholes 11:30 how to work the SECOND row for ALL of the buttonholes 13:32 buttonholes don't need to be very big, even for biggish buttons-comparing how each buttonhole looks & whether it's reversible 14:25 weaving in the ends for the vertical buttonhole 17:40 shows how biggish buttons fit into tiny buttonholes

    Hi Suzanne, do you have any recommendations for the placement of our row buttonholes in 2X2 rib ?

  • @CindyCourtney
    @CindyCourtney3 жыл бұрын

    Suzanne, for the horizontal button hole, do you have a video that explains the math of buttonhole placement? In other words, for a band that is Y stitches long, Knit X stitches, slip that first stitch to begin the buttonhole, etc. That is the part that gives me difficulty. Your explanation for knitting the button hole is excellent.

  • @SuzanneBryan

    @SuzanneBryan

    3 жыл бұрын

    I do not. But, count that first slipped stitch as the first buttonhole stitch. Maybe that will help you.🧶

    I have a question. I'm making a cardi for a gift, and don't know whether the recipient will be wearing it buttoned, unbuttoned, or will often/frequently be buttoning and unbuttoning. I want to make buttonholes that will stand up well to the wear from being repeatedly buttoned and unbuttoned. Do you have an opinion on the sturdiness of these buttonholes? Can you "rate" the buttonholes, from sturdiest to most fragile? Thanks.

  • @SuzanneBryan

    @SuzanneBryan

    3 жыл бұрын

    This is a great question. A lot depends on the size of the button too. If they are small buttons, the yarnover buttonhole is very good. If they are a little larger the one row horizontal buttonhole and the vertical buttonhole are very sturdy as well.
