A Unique Cocktail To Try - the Trinidad Sour
In today's video I'm making the Trinidad Sour! This is a modern classic that's one unique cocktail - its base spirit is Angostura bitters! Typically a dash too much in a cocktail can overpower the other ingredients, but in this recipe a full ounce (30ml) of Angostura bitters is free to shine! The cocktail has deep notes of baking spices that are countered with bright citrus and sweet almond. I also like to garnish this one with mint, which you don't seen in other recipes, but it keeps the drink fresh. If you're a fan of bitters like I am, you're going to love the Trinidad Sour. Cheers!

I absolutely loved this cocktail, but bitters are pretty pricy. Do you know of a cheaper substitute so I could have this more regularly? I already went through a brand new 4oz bottle this weekend. Lol.

I was at a whiskey bar last night, and the bartender made a kind of scorched Old Fashioned by spraying the Angostura bitters in the glass with a small atomizer over a flame. It created a kind of fireball effect in the glass and really changed the aromas of the bitters. I’d love to see your take on that technique!🥃

The Bitter Truth & Angostura bitters are the only ones I'll allow in my drinks.
I love the spirit of this recipe: Add angostura until it brings you joy. Pour orgeat until you smile. Tip in rye until it feels whole. And add a garnish if you have one on hand. Or not. It's up to you!

An amazing and astonishing cocktail. I already made it twice and everybody was pleased! Thanks a lot for your recipes!
I had Anders' version the other day and it's genuinely amazing. It's a huge hit among my flatmates. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

Wow so good!!
It's one of my favourite cocktails. Last Sunday my friend tried for first time and she felt in love with it. We did a route for several cocktail bars in Madrid. We had 5 each, in 5 different bars. I use the same measures of ingredients, but I serve it without garnish. Every time I gave one to a client that have never tried before they love it.
Big up from Trinidad!! Great work as always! 🇹🇹
I am so trying this cocktail this weekend. After watching your video on doing Angostura Bitter Shots, it has opened up a world of cocktail possibilities for me.
I finally made this and it is truly unique and delightful.
Through watching your videos over the last year or so, I've built up my home bar to have the vast range of spirits, liqueurs, mixers and tools to make your recipes! And I've loved every single one so far, the Sazerac being my favourite and go-to (maybe the old fashioned when i'm being lazy)... But this Trinidad Sour, could be a new favourite, so complex, yet so simple! Thank you very much Anders! Keep at it, love your videos!
I’ve watched so many of your videos and have made so many of your cocktails, and I have never been disappointed! But this truly was a unique one. It might be my favorite cocktail to date. And your addition of the mint garnish was brilliant (I even bought the little clothespins). I always look forward to your new cocktails. Another round please!

LOVE THIS!!!
LUV this drink, thank you, Anders! Almost tastes chocolaty to me in the most delicious way.
All time favorite classic cocktail, never tried the mint garnish. You're pretty cool!👍

Love ur thumbnail captions !!!! Fun stuff
i don’t typically drink but i really enjoy your channel. keep going anders!
I made this last night after seeing this post! I enjoyed the cocktail, but it didn't blow my mind. I was using homemade orgeat, and when it was all mixed together it was kinda the colour of a Bloody Mary which kept throwing me off. I love bitters so I had high hopes, but I think prefer having an ounce of bitters in with a lemon-lime-mint-soda drink (it's an Australian pub classic called a Lemon, Lime & Bitters, but I add extra bitters). But I'm pleased I tried this and gave it a go!
I’ve been making this cocktail at home for months now. It’s a favorite of mine!
First time I made one of these it blew my mind. Really excellent and unique.
Awesome!
Oh damn I gotta try these specs! They sound perfect. Your videos are the shit man, love em.

I was so intrigued by this cocktail that I just had to make it. Like, right away. I was making drinks for 6 people, so I had to go and buy more angostura - walking, 20 minutes each way. When it came out of the shaker I was really surprised at how … uh … viscous, it was. It is a seriously weird cocktail, but it tastes great, everybody loved it, glad I made it. Thanks!!

Incredible cocktail. Had no rye so made with Four Roses. Will have to get some Rittenhouse to test the difference. Thanks for the recommendation! Also loving the Angostura shot too. Delicious
Bartender here! My boyfriend’s favorite cocktail - leathery and delicious. Loved this video!
I tried this with the angostura Amaro and it was very good also.
First recommended video from you, and honestly the best possible first video because I love this drink so yes I subbed. I've yet to make this at home but I want to see what what a ginger syrup or liquor would do instead of, or in conjunction with, the orgeat. Japanese G&Ts tonight, perhaps to Trinidad next weekend.
Love this cocktail. Seriously, my go to recently. Glad to see you blowing this one up. My recipe is same as yours but I use 1.5 oz of Ango lol

I did / tried my first trinidad sour ... and what a delicious drink... with aged martinique rum instead of whisky
Amazing video! I tried it of course and i wasn't blown away like i expected.. it was to heavy on the angostura for me, then i up the rye to 30ml and boom! Amazingly balanced cocktail! Tanks for the video! Btw i using "bulleit rye" for my cocktails.
I just made this recipe with straight bourbon as i don’t have any rye but all i can say is… WOW!
I've used Angostura for years but it reached legendary status for me after making Anders Winsconsin old fashioned, video published earlier this year. Will definitely make this sour as soon as I make some orgeat
As I am watching this with my post-work cocktail (Three Dots and a Dash) in hand, I have just now decided to make the Trinidad Sour in a little bit. It looks pretty awesome!
