A Trip to The Bronx, New York City

I get daily requests from viewers to visit the Bronx.
In this video I visited Mott Haven, a neighborhood in the Bronx that is super close to Manhattan.
Many parts of the Bronx have flourished over the past few years due to the low property prices, and Mott Haven has been particularly attractive for its fantastic location.
I wanted to show more parts of the Bronx in this video, but sadly it was raining a lot and by 4pm the sun disappeared.
More visits to the Bronx are coming soon.

I was born and raised in the Bronx ,was born 1939 ,lived on Beaumont Ave & 187th street my parents two bedroom apt. was 38 dollars a month , I recently did a little research and learned that the same apt. Now goes for about 1650 a month. I remember my mother carrying on about how the landlord wanted to increase the rent by two dollars a month. Times have sure changed,

Its great Bronx is getting exposure to the public domain. However, in the coming years the prices of affordable housing is going to skyrocketed. One example is those who lived in The Bronx for 30+ years are being pushed out by private companies and landlords will hike up monthly rent just to stay with the means of competitive markets. The city says we have affordable housing prices at $40,000 however, constituents who live don’t make it past $21,000 annually. Now we have the Jerome Ave rezoning project that connects Yankee Stadium to Kingsbridge Armory that will be renovated to a new skating stadium. We will see a-lot of gentrification and a lot of corporations auctioning new developments in the Bronx. Apparently we don’t come first as they promise.

@@ricardocampos6517 Its due to inflation and stagnate salaries. Income has not changed since early 2000s. Its easier to critic on what seems to be easy from the outside looking in. New York City is a competitive place to live because of many of us are not granted the opportunity to go school and find better jobs. In fact we are suppressed of this rights just to stay stuck in a consistent loop hole. Its the way the system is designed. We need to change our housing system and give constituents the chance to be opportunists.

I live in the Bronx and I love NYC, but sadly this video does not highlight that it is gentrifying very fast. the snip-bit of South Bronx and its ranking along with Mott Haven being compared to Williamsburg/DUMBO, its dangerous-we have our own culture that resembles much of Brooklyn's in the 1990s and 80s. We don't want substantiates to come and take our homes that are already loosing money. Its the best place ever but its a place we call ours with all of its flaws. Thank you though for showing how nice the Bronx is an how often its just as crowed as Manhattan.

HERSON James You are absolutely right. My husband and I invested in a 2 family house by Yankee Stadium because of the gentrification and we are only 30. My husband is from Grand concourse and 170th and I am from Bushwick, which we definitely can't afford. People are upset about the gentrification but I always said before gentrification happen to these neighborhoods. What were the people in the community contributing? Nothing! Most of these people are in welfare, not trying to better themselves. The community is always dirty with garbage all over the floor, high crimes and horrible schools. It's hard for me to sympathize with these people that won't be able to afford the Bronx but for some reason, these same people can afford $300 sneakers, red bottoms, $2000 bags, weed, vacationing and constantly going out.

Rent for cramped but decent apt: $28 a month, raised to 430 (a dollar a day); Most bldgs on my block have been torn down, replaced iwith nice bldg (in the 70s). they kept only one of my type of tenemebt vecause they had elaborate facades, as if wealthy people live din them. A very nice single famaily house on the corner of 139th and Cypress sold recently for well over a million dollars. This is in Port Morris right next to Mott Haven, a small neighborhood like Mott Haven.

Soulafied I plan on living there by the time I’m 30 so I have 2 more years lol and my son wants to live in NYC because he thinks the ninja turtles live in the sewers there! Haha but would you recommend The Bronx for a single mommy, although you haven’t been there that long? Oh and congrats on your move, I like reading the comments on the NYC vids and I believe I saw you saying you were moving there on one of em.

Tequilla Dorsey The Bronx I'm learning is so far from everything. I'm not sure I would recommend the Bronx for a single mother. Harlem and Queens have some nice places too. I'm sold on Brooklyn even though it's becoming more expensive.

the best part of The Bronx to live is Riverdale and Fieldston Rd..otherwise, i wouldn't live there for free...Arthur Ave is great for authentic Italian foods...of course, the Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Van Cortlandt Park, City Island are wonderful venues to visit.

There is a sign commemorating them in the Belmont area, where they used to gather to sing on the sidewalk. This area, our "Little Italy" has undergone many changes & unfortunately, lost some of its original Italian flavor. Madonia Bakery, which is over 100 years old announced that they will close this year.

When you live in a village a lot of personal things go on because these people congregate together and have their own culture. But outsiders say. They can run your community more efficiently. Without family discourse and group issues to make a more harmonious and sanitized environment.

Gentrification is inevitable as it is closest to Manhattan for people who want to live in Manhattan without paying the Manhattan home and apartment price tags. Also Mott Haven still has nice architecture which will make it more appealing to push people out and bring in a different type of crowd.
