A TRIBUTE TO DAYMON STOKIE

Спорт

On January 27th 2018, Daymon Stokie tragically lost his life in a racing accident. He was one of the toughest, most talented and down-to-earth guys that I have ever met, an incredible human being with a heart of gold. I would personally like to dedicate this video to Daymon's memory, hoping that it helps to keep his legacy alive.
Rest easy mate, this one is for you.

I'm a motocross guy but have a ton of respect for desert racers. These guys go ridiculously fast over terrain that changes constantly. Really sad to hear when any moto guy passes away. Knowing we could be killed doing what we love and we keep coming back week after week. That's the part outsiders to our sport will never understand. It doesn't matter how bad your day at work was or that you got in a fight with your girlfriend or your car needs expensive repairs , when you throw your leg over your bike and start placing your goggles in the perfect position and fire that bike up you forget about everything else that was a minor problem. Suddenly your totally free from any of life's problems. Before you know it you can't even remember what was bothering you. You hit the big triple and have a permanent smile glued to your face. You can't describe the feeling to other people what its like to fly through the air. Riding is truly beautiful if you could put everything in slow motion and watch guys rip through a turn. Truly is beauty in motion.

So true my friend. I had my pelvis/back/right femur broken in a bad crash in mx several years ago and all my friends and family said I was crazy to race again. People will have a hard time understanding what it means to us to race/ride in any venue if you are unfamiliar with the sport. When it grabs a hold of you t it doesn't let go and is the world to me. I would be a pretty unhappy dude (as it sounds like you would be as well) if I could never ride. If I had to go back and experience all the injuries I've had I'd do it all again. RIP Stokie...

Hey mate I lost both my legs in a work accident and all that matters to me is when I ride. I’m building my wr450 for finke but blew a head gasket the week prior to the race and missed it. I’ll be there next year to inspire people. I hit a high voltage powerline carrying 19,000 volts 3 times and survived it I didn’t even pass. Your 100% right mate, riding is like nothing else on earth. Im not scared of dying, Im scared of not living. If you think you can, Or think you can’t, Your right.

This is so sad to see a wonderful young Australian pass. I am not into bikes or the desert but it obvious Daymon was a humble champion and did not leave one ounce of effort underutilized. RIP young man and condolences to his loved ones.
