    Great vlog, Ryan. You are doing a wonderful job with the home garden. I have found that I've quadrupled my potato crop in my grow bags/containers with one simple adjustment. I plant the seed potatoes under just about 6" of soil. When the plants start to grow and get to be about 6" tall, I add soil to cover all except a bit of green leaves above. I repeat that process until the soil is level with the top of the bag/container. Each newly covered section of the plant sends out new roots, and because potatoes are tubers, you'll find that the potatoes grow in every layer as a result. Large ones on the bottom, working up to fingerling size at the top. Tomatoes benefit from clipping the lowest stems and burying deep for extra rooting as well. I hope this helps, my fellow gardening nerd. May you and your beautiful family be abundantly blessed. In Christ, G5 🙏🏽🫶🏽

    That looks like Wears Valley area. Best taters I grew were in wet straw on top of tilled soil. They can root into the soil but the taters stayed clean and kept bright red color up in the straw layer. Just have to make sure they get plenty of water.

    Hi, This is my 4th year growing Cukes & Tomatoes on strings, love it, the plants just sway with the wind, get so much air, away from dirt & bugs as well as support! I just use the clips (I don't wrap), maybe try both ways? If I don't cut off the suckers, I just give suckers their own string! Fun to grow that way too. 😎🍅🥒.....I find myself spending a bunch of time clipping but it's relaxing, you see/notice how much/fast they grow and I enjoy it so much! I run my strings on an angle to my upper deck that overlooks my garden. You can also move your clips up & farther apart when the plants are taller, you will see! Show us the solar system! I live in a passive solar cabin, 17 years.

    You certainly do have an amazing garden and orchard. I would love to see more videos of your garden as it progresses and of your beautiful acreage and home. How did you make the perfectly round holes in your landscape fabric with your blow torch? My husband took a Bush Grillin' Beans can, put a hole in the bottom of it and then secured a small piece of metal rod through the hole. He held on to the rod with a pair of locking vise-grip pliers and heated around the edges of the top of the can with the torch then placed it down on the landscape fabric. It worked pretty well for making a perfectly round hole.

    To keep the deer out of the orchard on Living Traditions, they put up a double fence. It worked! The deer were afraid of jumping 2 fences. Nice setup in the vegetable garden.

  • @Thewindingstairs747

    @Thewindingstairs747

    Yep. That type of fence works good on deer. It’s like a double ring around the whole garden. One strand of the electric fence twine and then another strand out away from the first strand by about 20 inches. Same hight too. The deer can’t judge the distance to landing area when they jump. So they just don’t fool with it
