As described by the architects:
The site is located on the riverbank in Cam Thanh commune, at the corner of a junction in a small village surrounded by a typical agricultural landscape in Hoi An ancient town of Quang Nam province. owner of the house - Ms. Giang is an environmental expert, she thinks about the house as a space mixed with local greenery landscape. It is also necessary to be a space with enough tranquility for the education’s target that she directed towards her son who needs a certain condition to grow up.
This house is not only a small house for four people to live in, it is also a place where the birds, the spiders, or insects find shelter in the foliage. Furthermore, it is a mini-community center where the host works with her environmental activist group and meets with neighbors to build community bonds as she wished when moving from Saigon - a crowded city with 12 million people to retreat in this countryside village.
The spaces on the ground floor of the house are first raised along with a large garden and then we spread it out in this garden. I think it's functional groups set in a garden rather than a garden set in a house. For example, in the dining room, the floor is both the floor but also a large bench placed in the garden, where people doing teamwork but also be a large bench that inviting neighbors to talk in the edge of the garden. Just like a language, it is an organization of discrete objects, when they standing side by side, they find their meaning.

Having a courtyard is priceless and an ecological advantage for tropical living. It’s cooling, airy and allows natural light for the house.
I also have such a house in my village , and the rainy days are amazing . The courtyard is filled up with soil and a huge plant , and the smell when the rain hits the ground..Its amazing.. So peaceful ..I miss it here in the city ..

Can you please add more “home your” type shots in your videos? While these focus shots look good, they fail to sufficiently convey the design, layout, and flow of the house. These are beautiful homes and I wish I could see more of each one.

At first I thought it was really great, but then it disappointed in terms the walled courtyard, disjointed landscaping, painted flat drywall, and the absence of an intimate connection to the outside that it should have had.
It's beautiful. But I wonder about all the bugs. My parent's country is filled wtih mosquitoes and flying roaches and what-not. I'd opt for screens.

Check Kerala vastu shastra house with courtyard....it's very useful for tropical climate to get good lighting and reduction of heat...
I'm curious on how does the drainage works for the courtyard?..bcs it's in the middle of the layout, what happens when it rains?..anyone with this knowledge, kindly enlighten me pls 😇

It is Vietnam.....it means all year around 27-35 C degree. Only what you really need is AC

This is suitable architecture for tropical climate and not region of extreme winters unless you have insulated glass or slide doors like Japanese architecture
My house is small it would be combination of Mekong Nation , Nusantara , South East Asia traditional with a some oriental element slowly I can make , it is like a hobby collection of collector hobby , wood , earth ware , brass , bronze and iron products 🤣😂😅😝😋😛🤪😜

The gap size between the floor and the ground is not practical in SEA countries when u take into consideration of pests such as snakes and rats. Really a problem to deal with.

It's well worth a visit as there are many wonderful villas, French Colonial and beyond.

Peaceful, beautiful ... but the bug and spider web kind of off-putting. The architecture is as good as the Vietnamese food ... some of the best in the world. Very nice people too.
