A-Trak - 2002 DMC Japan Showcase
Музыка
When A-Trak (Alain Macklovitch) won the 1997 DMC World Championship as a 15-year-old, he changed the game forever by raising the standards of scratching and beat-juggling by which all future battle DJs would be judged. Here he is in an epic 15-minute showcase, scorching the decks at the 2002 DMC Japan Championships.

Hi Michael, how are you doing, good I hope. Thankyou for all the hidden gems you post, your collection is dream material to a lot of people, good for you for keeping the history of this thing we love called turntablism alive. I just wanted to ask you a question. I believe that A.Trak was the 1st D.j. to invent & demo his very own scratch notation system. Do you agree or do you know otherwise? Also, what's your fav battle of all time? Mine 2 fav's are Dj Noize vs Dj 8Ball/ Shortkut or Akakabe vs Ie.Merge in the 2004 Supremacy final.

And his 96 -97 dmc as well
He has a quantizer in his brain, no errors in his set. Few guys could perform this set

I wish I could agree. The set is fantastic, but the timing is certainly bobbled. I know exactly how hard it is to pull off, but it wasn't perfect.

@@JoeMamaBesser True, I counted about ~26 misses.
True still young legend !!! When i was at Dmc World Finals in London he did a 7-8 mins showcase which is the same here starting from the Swamp Beats with Craze tool record, then Get Ur Freak on juggling and ending with the Kraftwerk loop tool. I remember how the crowd scream and celebrate every trick he did ! He amazes us ! You can see me in the back for a while in that Dmc clip hahaha!!! His precision, skills, impossible juggles and creativity still amazes me today 20 years later. Thanks Michael once again and ... A-TRAK FOREVAH 🙌🙌

His precision is incredible!!! Some DJs Juggle just for the sake of juggling and showing off their skill. His juggles are very musical and in context with the rest of the performance!!

I agree, I saw him play in dublin around 99/2000 and he did a juggle routine which quickly went from a hip hop beat into a breakbeat style beat. It sounded so good that many people there probably didn't even realise he was juggling.
I cannot stop thinking about 2:25 forward. Especially where he starts tapping the record. Sooooooo good.
dmc world champion 1997 legend
Man! Amazing routine. 100%
that "Grindin'" mix is insaaane, so damn good
I just gained a deeper respect for A-Trac 🎉 epic set 🏆
My favorite DJ of all time.
The musicality isn't compromised by the technical skills. That's rare in turntablism

that is because he raised up at the end of the 90's. The golden era of dj battles and turntablism, when musicality was one of the criteria to score a dj set
Awesome technique 🤌 and great rhythm keeping 🪘 Bravo👏
Best Turntablism. ive watched. 2022. Salute
This kid, is very accurate and creative like Q-bert and DJ Kentaro.

A TraK is amazing, his skills and timing is insane.
Pure class. Very technical and very musical. Perfect 15 min showcase.
Always good to watch ATracks Showcases. He put so much time into these routines, in the same way short, q and mmm used too. This might be one of the freshest and cleanest versions, there's a tableturns one which is incredible also! The kid was a beast.
Always bringing the rare heat, thank you.
hes a genius for sure. i dont know much about DJ'ing, but I know a genius when I see one
Flipping that cross fade guys amazing ,,respect from UK🇬🇧🔥🔥🔥

It’s true. Anyone ignorant to thumbs-down this performance does not deserve the privilege of having the option to judge it. A-Trak, 18 years ago, was doing with two slabs of vinyl & a pair 1200s what most cats would still struggle to do today - even with the gift of dvs. Game recognize game and if you cannot recognize the greatness of this set, then you clearly have zero game.
So I saw his winning set from the 90s. Dope as fuck. Now I’m seeing this for the first time today and he’s just unreal. I know minuscule when it comes to this stuff on the true technicality, but his juggles are so clean and don’t take away from all the stuff he is doing. I’ve watched more of some of these turntable scratch contests and yes there’s still good stuff out there, but this dude is in a league of his own. And this shit is from 02! Lmao 😂😂. Unreal dudes so nasty. Come to Cleveland bro!!! Please come to fucking Cleveland!!!! I’ll pay couple hundo to watch u, kintaro , mix master mike, and Q.
Very dope

Infamous is still active but as a producer, most noticably for Lil Wayne. He posts time from time on his Instagram
The guy who invented a scratch notation system, the 1st I believe. What a prodigy, hes so high up in his understanding of music. Lookin down at everyone else. Hes a legend 🔥🔥🔥🔥

DJ Rae dawn may have something to say about that, I have no idea who's in the right and really don't think it's important, many people probably contributed to scratch notation to think that the idea came from one person alone is doubtful
