Dirty and badly maintained. She clearly has no idea about hygiene and cleanliness and tidiness. No one wants a smelly house either. They will move into a new place and it will stink just as bad and look just as dirty after 3 mths.

Dirty smelly carpets and cigarette smell. Nothing turns me off like those two things. Plus a generally outdated kitchen. Some ppl also dislike pets. We had three cats and when we showed our home, we put the cats in their carriers and put them in our car in the garage. We stacked the litter boxes and put them in the garage under a towel and they were undiscovered during showings. We also sprayed Febreze throughout and made sure the entire house was vacuumed and tidied. Before we put the house in the market I went through all our belongings twice, taking unwanted items to Goodwill. Once we did that, and organized the remaining items, we put about 1/4 of our furniture into a storage unit and had the items delivered to our new home an hour's drive away. Less furniture makes a house look larger. In this program, they never show the bathrooms, which is interesting.....I guess those fixes are left to a new homeowner. I also see many of these homes with poor lawns -- either trodden dirt or weedy, and either few shrubs and flowers OR overgrown ones. Curb appeal is SO important. Plant a few shrubs, clean up the yard, replace sod or plant with grass seed depending on the climate area. A new front door color can also do WONDERS for curb appeal. Clean siding, wash off porches, dust exterior lamps and lights, remove cobwebs. Consider painting porch furniture, buy an inexpensive rug or a side table.....set up a vignette on the front porch. Remove ALL signage in the house because they create visual clutter and do not allow buyers to concentrate on the rooms -- they are distracted reading all the signage, like a sign in the kitchen that says, EAT. Duh.

it's always price. for a low enough price, someone would have wanted to buy it, who would have done the cleaning, paint and floors. a lot of people are intimidated by a cosmetic fixer, but those are the best deals. they just needed to lower the price enough to make it a bargain for someone who is ok with doing the cosmetic repairs.

It's not the pets that are the problem it's her/their lack of cleanliness. If you have pets you need to clean more often that's a given. You need to wash furnishings and bedding and vacume regularly. Clean skirtings and walls, wipe surfaces every day etc... having pets shouldn't necessarily mean your house is smelly and dirty.

I used to have a house cleaning business. One of my customers, an elderly couple, were smokers and they smoked in the house. Nicotine litterally clings to every surface. It is sticky like honey. attracts dust and pet hair along with their odors.

"Have you taught him to fold?" He's not a dog. He knows the house is for sale. Probably just doesn't care 'cause it's not "his problem ".

I love Anthony's face when he is holding the pet carrier.

I don’t understand how people expect to sell their home successfully and fast without having to clean and organize. I know some really nice people but their homes are so filthy that I avoid eating there.

Did they clean out the heating ducts? First time the heat comes on there will be a flurry of hair flying around if they didn't.

My husband sad the same thing. I personally would Not rent or buy a house a smoker was in as I’m very sensitive to the smell & it would make me sick

I went through that at work, they remodeled the building but didn't run the heat, first time we ran the entire building filled with smoke and dust, the fire department came out!

@@nylanelson8660 the smell of tobacco never leaves no matter what. You could clean the walls and paint them but if you’re a non smoker you will smell it. Fifteen years when we were looking to buy a house, we decided against two really nice houses for that reason. The tobacco smell was even intense in the closets😱

@@pennyk1943 , totally agree as I would Never buy a house that belonged to a smoker either. The smoke will be inside the walls as it permeates drywall & wood & will be in the heating & cooling ducts & come out when turned on

Not only " the house " need a transformation. The owner and specially HER BOYFRIEND needs a urgent advice too.

To get rd of the smoke smell in the walls they really should be putting stain blocking primer on the walls. Nicotine will actually eat through paint & come through. On the floor where the cats & dog peed you again have to use primer but it has to be Oil based primer so the stain won’t come through & the same for Any wall with nicotine on it has to be Oil based primer. Use Kitz or Bulls Eye 123 primer

Yes ... that white alcohol-based sealant is wonderful. Seals in odors on subfloor and walls.

@@lazygardens , Alcohol based primer will Not stop Nicotine from coming through or from eating through paint. The primer Needs to be Oil Based to stop the smells & nicotine from coming through

@@nylanelson8660 I've renovated several old houses. I used Zinsser B-I-N Shellac-Base Primer in the houses where there had been heavy smokers. Worked really well, although the alcohol fumes are quite heady.

They painted the walls but did they paint the ceilings? That's probably yellow and still stinks. They should have had a professional odour remover come in. Chances are if they don't clean they're not properly maintaining the house either. I doubt air filters were changed, etc.

I know this episode is from the late 2000's.. I was wondering why there weren't lovely area rugs put down under the Lounge furniture, to help ground the space something appropriate at the indoor front entrance, to protect from shoes, etc. That's a small dining set for the area, it feels " stark " , needed a nice large mirror opposite the dining set, and some fresh flowers on the table.

Hi i really enjoy watching this show, but would love to see the names and brands of the paint thats used to freshen up the homes.

I get it that the smoking and the pets are problems, but she really hounded the homeowners about that. I think they heard you the first time!

Cats and carpet are not getting well together. No one wants to buy a dirty zoo. I would ran away seeing so many animal hair and smelling tobacco. Style is not a problem but poor maintenance is.

home is a dream home, a bad dream. The home needed an intervention, and thankfull recieved one.

Most likely smell of cat.. Owner will not smell it but we do.. Clean your house and unclutter..

Giving 2nd hand smoke to your pets is inexcusable. That is just pure neglect😔

sorry but the smell of smoke and pets does not go away with fresh paint...it needs a serious scrubbing and airing out....don't understand why agent didn't insist on removing animals for showing before

I think I am going to have to unsubscribe…I actually felt bad for this lady …I have 5 cats . I might not smoke….BUT .. it is NOT EASY WORKING and keeping a clean house with PETS … it’s not like there was dirty dishes and garbage piled up everywhere …so sad that she had to keep repeating about the same thing ☹️

There’s no excuse to feel offended. Keep a clean house people. Ok, so your unorganized but at least be CLEAN.

@@pattycake9183 still...the way she was repeatedly told..im sure that the show should respectfully put accent on the change of the house and not exposing a person to the point of humiliating another . It chances the atmosphere and the reason of the show.

10:25 Calling beloved pets "critter" just show how much this lady is snob, which is really something you can "smell" throughout the episodes. I think I'm done with this series now, it's hardly bearable to see someone being so obviously condescending, episode after episode.
