I had the pleasure to do the Britannia on my trip to Edinburgh in 2013. I’ll never forget the experience.

My dad worked in the Engine room 😊

The Queen first visit to a foreign country was Panama, my beloved country navigating the previous Royal vessel The Gothic. It crossed the Panama Canal while the queen and Prince Philip visited Cristobal on the Atlantic side and Panama City on the Pacific. As a 14 year old student (given the day off) I lined one of our narrow streets on her way to Panama presidential palace in a yellow convertible Cadillac with red leather upholstery. She was so delicate and to me, ten feet away, the most beautiful english rose. I am 84years old now sitting in my back patio next to my mango tree, retired bilingual Panama Canal claims expert, your loyal suscriber, ... and the yellow Cadillac belonged to my cousin Josefina. Her father, a successful businessman gave it to her as a graduation present in 1952. Surprised you, eh!

Really interesting comment! Thank you. I'm from Canada and I did see the Queen 4 times in my life all in Canada. The first time at 5 years old. She did get around. The Queen had the most beautiful complexion even as she got older.

0:40 The Queen looks so happy and relaxed. I think she was a very private person and the Yacht was the perfect, intimate space for Her & The Royal Family.

This was special as it brings back memories of when my husband and I toured the yacht in 2012. Thanks for sharing.

My husband and I toured the yacht 5 years ago when our cruise ship stopped in Edinburgh…it’s so beautiful in person!

What a wonderful tour! I thoroughly enjoyed it! I felt totally emersed in the tour, as though I was there! Since I may never be able to see it in person, I appreciated seeing behind-the-scenes of the famous vessel!

I had always wondered what happened when the yacht was retired. I’m so pleased to see it preserved and available for tours and for private bookings. I was especially impressed with the engine room! 😊

We visited HMS Britannia last august and loved it. I can understand the queen needed this place to really feel at home. Thank you to remind us this great moment of our stay in Scotland

Indeed, The Royal Yacht Britannia is available for exclusive use evening events, just as Her Majesty entertained presidents and prime ministers on board.

Ohhhhhh.... This was one of the most exciting videos I have seen from you... I looovvvveeed viewing the rooms and envisioned the Royal family and guests aboard. I was 5 when I sailed on the Queen Mary ( 1960). My mum, brother and I were in second class . My brother and I would sneak up to first class at night and watch! Lol we never got caught...well.. not from anyone except mum. We were ģoing to England back to my mums home in Norwich. The casualness of the rooms, almost understated reminded me of the Eisenhower's and Churchill's home. This was brillant...

Thank you so much for the tour, Nicholas! That was really interesting and I was particularly struck that nothing seemed over-the-top extravagant or ostentatious. It was all very tasteful and a lot of it quite humble. And their beds seemed very small. That surprised me. I liked seeing the little dogs in each room also. I'm sure they are Corgis!

Thank you! This made my day. I absolutely love the Yacht. The colors, the wood, the brass/metals, and how they made it a home away from home. I was picturing the Queen and her family being there and imagining what it would feel like to live that life... especially back in the 50s...a time in history I wish I could snap my fingers and be living in myself. ♥♥♥

Lucky to get a more exclusive look. Ironically never been on Britannia even though I live in Edinburgh and my father built the emergency steering gear (or least a bit of it).

What a beautiful, spacious boat/yacht/ship. It is no wonder the Queen enjoyed conducting her foreign affairs from this venue! Thank you for taking us along👍🏻(love your music, always, as well!)

By far the cleanest engines I've ever seen in a ship. And I love the fireplaces. A floating castle, certainly.

As a tax payer I do not see why their luxury should be funded by the great British public; the Queen's sickening level of entitlement re this yacht was nauseating.Parasites, the lot of them.
