DUMB POPO!

I was working at the CBS Broadcast Center on the set of "As The World Turns" the morning the Challenger exploded. And of course,CBS News was in the same building. I'm still amazed by the cast of the soap that day, which included Julianne Moore, and how they somehow professionally finished taping the episode. Because we were all in a state of shock because of the news.

CBS Broadcast Center in NYC is also the home of the flagship station for CBS WCBS-TV, and Long Island Independent WLNY.

I love the "catacombs". I'd love to see more of that area.

Damn I wish I worked at that building lmao I’d always be exploring. I love buildings like that and the history.

CBS Sunday Morning is my favorite show.

Geraldo Rivera's syndicated talk show was also done there in the '90s (they first originated at the original Times Square Studios).

😯😯😯😯 This and Murphy Brown is what sparked my love Broadcast Journalism. Thank you. How come you did not show the executive producer of the CBS Evening News.

Quite an impressive behind the scenes tour! And my favorite show as a kid came from here! Captain Kangaroo!

Fun fact: Julianne Moore sort of reprised her dual soap opera in “Benny And Joon” (1993). In that movie, she played a former slasher movie actress that played the dual roles of sisters. One was the killer, the other a scream queen victim.

"Last Week Tonight" tapes there too.

Broadcast Center is the East Division of CBS's Operating center (West Division is Television City in Hollywood) it is the home for news operations (CBS This Morning, CBS Morning News, CBS News Up-to-the-Minute (formely CBS News Nightwatch with Charlie Rose), Sunday Morning, Evening News, News updates), sports operations (NCAA Pre-game show, NFL Today Pregame and Postgame, CBS Sports Spectular) as well as soap operas and sitcoms. Also yearly-affilate promo briefings launching image campaigns (CBSpirit, Share the Spirit, We've Got the Touch, Great Moments, Reach for the Stars, Looking Good Together, Looking Good etc...) were done in the studio as well.

I was wondering where this place was - I watched Last Week Tonight w/ John Oliver (Mar. 15) and I didn't know he did his show from here. - But not this past weekend as this damn virus infected one-or a few who work here. Fascinating video though.

It's HUGE. It's an entire block and NY blocks are huge.

Last Week Tonight, Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and The Rundown with Robin Thede all use Studio 42 in one week alone.

I would like to come up to visit the broadcast center one day.

Too bad the soap opera industry in NYC died with the cancellation of As The World Turns. I wonder how many other soaps were taped in this studio

Search for Tomorrow was also taped at the CBS Broadcast Center. When Search for Tomorrow moved to NBC in 1982, for the first few months on NBC, Search was still taping at the CBS Broadcast Center even though the show was aired on NBC.

@@johnd9664 Yup, you can see Love of Life director Larry Auerbach walking out of Studio 41 at the end of the last show of the series that aired Feb. 1, 1980. I'm guessing that The Secret Storm and perhaps Love is a Many Splendored Thing and Where the Heart Is were taped there.

and so they probably bought retrofitted remodeled excetera the whole building in those days with a week or so is worth of tobacco advertising Revenue and we had a president who said ask not what your country can do for you! something to think about...

The schtickiness of this segment was not only unfunny but VERY distracting and a waste of time. Should've done it straight. That place has a very interesting history. Too bad they thought they had to joke it up.
