That violin like instrument from 4:00 forwards has a very similar sound to the Norwegian Harding fiddle (" Hardingfele"). In the first 20 seconds before starting singing I could have sweared it was a Hardingfele I was hearing, using his fingers on the strings. The local Hardingfele from the fjords and mountains of west southern Norway has a double set of strings compared to a standard violin, and is richly decorated. A particular gymnastic kind of dance is associated with it - "springar".

Sikkim has had a rich history in itself, With its rich and different culture, it has a life in itself. Unfortunately, this is not the best time to visit the Himalayan state of India as the monsoon season makes it difficult for tourists to visit any place which offers the best sights to the eyes, a glimpse of heaven indeed. April to may or maybe October to November is the best time to visit if you want to enjoy sikkim. But sikkim is beautiful in every season whether it's the foggy monsoon or the cold winters. May the mighty Kanchenjunga bless you and the viewers.

The image u've of India is mostly a western stereotype based on hot, dry & barren North/West India which's just a small part of India. When u move out of that region, u get a true sense of how beautiful & diverse India truly is in every aspect, especially wrt languages, ethnicities, cultures, cuisines, attires etc. Speaking of geography/weather, d whole Himalayan region of India is extremely cold/snowy...the isolated North-East & South-West Western Ghat regions r lush green tropics with some of d wettest places on earth (google Cherrapunji/Mawsynram). The naturally stunning NE India (Sikkim is one out of 8 states) is also an unexplored cultural paradise, one of the most ethnically/racially/linguistically diverse regions in d world, home 2 hundreds of unique indigenous/tribal communities who're very different from d stereotypical image of India/Indians!

14:31 I guess that is mo:mo soup. They offer momo with soup mostly in winter If momo is non-veg, then the soup is served with bones along skimpy meat.. And if mo:mo is veg, then simply soup mixed with chutney and some coriander stems, onions & other veggies.

If you're going to Tsomgo lake (or Changu lake as it's popularly known), you might need warmer clothes. We saw a lot of snow when we visited during the spring season. It's at an elevation of around 3800 metres, so you might also experience altitude sickness. There are snow boots available near the lake for rent. We were constantly breathless when we were there because the air there was so thin, so it'll be interesting to see how you'll film a video there. Good luck with the weather and have a safe trip.

Altitude sickness can strike even the most seasoned mountaineers anytime. That's just how it works, so it's always good to plan ahead. In all his Sikkim videos including this one, he has been wearing sandals with socks, so I wanted to warn him about the weather conditions at the lake. Did you even watch the video?

@@GabrielTravelerVideos That's probably for the best. The weather changed pretty dramatically on the day we visited. We reached on a sunny morning, but by afternoon, a thick fog suddenly enveloped the area, which made it difficult to even find the car we went there in. The descend back to Gangtok in all that fog takes the prize for scariest ride I've ever experienced. If it's foggy to begin with, there isn't much hope for you to see anything worthwhile.

Hi Gabriel, the weather has been unforgiving. I guess it's better than a foot of snow and wind. Adversity is a part of traveling as you well know I'm sure at this point you're plotting your next location, the hot soup you have been eating is also comforting just trying to make the best out of a bit frustrating situation. There must be some neighboring towns you can visit to get another perspective. You always surprise us with something, not on the radar.
