Hi Glenn , I’m doing up an 1910 farm house at the moment, which had previously had its external render completely remove & then the southern facing wall was pointed in PUre CEMENT which had major damp issues , I now have removed all concrete pointing ! My question is this , there is a lot of discussion at the moment regarding NHL3.5 and there suitability’s for pointing as it will keep strengthening! (In 10years it might be like cement) Should I use hotlime instead ? The southern wall is bare inside & out and is very wet

Hi qood question there's a lot of different NHL manufacturers out there good and bad There is also a lot of flawed data about NHL Also if NHL gets harder over the years why is there no one saying use it at 1:4 or 1:5 With hot lime you have to make sure you know what your doing make sure you don't use it on any sandstone

@@rosslukeshay no don't use it on sandstone The high free lime content eats away at it If you mix hot lime let it go cold put a piece of sand stone in with it the sandstone will start to break down
