Mariam has become a part of my conscience. Whenever I am stressed about something I hear her say, "Why so worried hamshireh? Life is beautiful. Let life take its course." That was my first reaction towards the end of the book. When Mariam was being sentenced to death for killing her husband, it brought me tears thinking how unfair life was on her ! But that's also what makes Hosseini so special .His books do not have picture perfect endings, only a glimmer of a hope at the end.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting him and had all 3 signed ☺️although I really liked A kite runner as a story, his writing was the best in a thousand splendid suns. I would rate them A kite runner 4/5 stars A thousand splendid suns 5/5 and The mountains echoed 3/5.

Well, this masterpiece is depicted on the horrors of the people in Afghanistan (mostly women) pre and post Taliban takes over. The story is so gripping by Khalid Hosseini's style of writing which is so realistic and a visual treat. It will definitely take you on a journey which is emotional and way too heart wrecking. Speaking about the characters you will surely surely fall in love with Mariam and Laila.💚 By the end of the story you are not only left with a tear, but with a fire lit within!! This is one of those books that will truly move you, pulling on your heartstrings until you bawl like a child. It will definitely change your thoughts, mentality and you'll feel that how blessed we are as there's soo much of pain in the world. Lastly, It's a privilege to get my heart broken by this book. 💔

Khaled Hosseini is my favourite writer as he creates these amazing characters and pulls on my heartstrings but he never gives the reunions you want. you might say that's real life but I have had to come out with different endings to stop myself from grieving. its taken me a while to get over his books and they are still all with me now. In kite runner I so felt like Hassan should know that Amir cared so much and they should see each other happily again, in thousand splendid suns I so wanted Mariam to know that her father did care, did regret and gave her the snow white and seven dwarfs in rememberance. not that just Laila got it not knowing the significance, and in the mountains echoed i so needed Pari to know the meaning behind the feather, how close Abdullah and her were, that Abdullah pretty much brought her up and that nothing made either of them happier than being together and about the dog shuja and their father telling stories and their mother with pari's goodness in her. it seemed cruel that they never truly realised the truth. my one saving grace is that i believe in heaven so i say it'll b all right in the end. yes, i know its not real but when characters enter my heart they become real.

I cried when i read this book for the first time. Back then when i recently developed a taste for reading. I used to go the library of our university and stroll through its book shelves. We were allowed three books to take home for one week, I usually took three but end up reading only one in a week and then I would have to return the two unread. It was merely luck that I took to read this one rather than the other two and now, I don't even remember what those other two books were. And when I did read this, I was shattered, I was blown to pieces and I couldn't make myself stable till the next three or four days. This book casted a spell on me. This was in 2014. Now matured enough, I thought I will be able to cope with this book better. I finished the book again yesterday, and I couldn't have been more wrong. This book still did the same thing to me that it did the previous time, only I cried too this time with inaudible sobs, heavy breaths and deep sighs. This is by far the best work of fiction I have ever read and I completely agree with you that this one is better than the kite Runner. I am searching for books that kind of leave that kind of impression on me that this book did, but I haven't found any that managed to pull it off. Recommend me if you find any. 🙂

Hey, I stumbled upon your video. I think this book is amazing and every time I feel low I start reading this book. At the same time Kite runner has its own story and is based entirely on the friendship which overcame the boundary of class and the end is something I never expected. If we talk about the mountains echoed you must read it, the relationship of the siblings is very pure and by the end a person ends up in tears. I think his books are based on understanding relations and realising the importance of them, how certain people in like stand by you no matter what.

"Calling sehmat" a masterpeice written by harinder sikka is surely enough in itself to shiver down your spine...... From a simple and sober girl turned ruthless spy of india is the marvelous story of sehmat khan......and yes it is 1000 times better then the movie "raazi"

I cannot agree more. I don't read much but yeah when I grabbed this, I started with 6 chapters first day, 10 on second...the part 2 was over within next 4 hours and yeah...I finished the entire novel next day in train. I realised how dumb I was to carry it in train because I couldn't cry my heart out. But then, I didnt speak for a day or two and sobbed in my bed back home. It brought out the plethora of emotions I've been holding in my heart for long... and yeah, I loved it :)

This book moved me. I cried at every single page. The characters, the setting of the story and the beautifully planned plot- everything is just perfect. Like you, I read A thousand splendid suns first and the kite runner later. And as you've said, The kite Runner is good, but A Thousand splendid suns.......oh. my. god. This book moved me to the core and made me cry a lot. Aptly said, this book is wonderful.

It is so heartbreaking that the happy end of this novel a bright and safe future for the Afghan women envisaged in ...is no more ...it didn't even lasted for 2 decades ...and several mariams and lailas are again in the grip of that terror and brutality who hadn't thought of it coming again , who have some beautiful plans for future...i whish i would've read it earlier so i could be happy at the end...it feels as if their thousand splendid suns again got the eclipse

His latest novel "And the mountains echoed" is the best in my opinion. I don't know how people judge book, but I loved and the mountains echoed for its experimental use of stream of consciousness. Also the introduction of multiple narratives was just amazing. If he hones this technique, I've no doubt he'll be hailed as 21st century's virgina woolf ( James joyce remains unparalleled).

It was a very good read although sometimes those politician names and the war would seem to be overwhelming but the last part of the book had my heart and all the charachters Mariam, Tariq and laila would always be in my heart.
