Yeah that's what I think too, they made some pretty good songs, but the copy bands don't barely know what they're doing before they start writing songs. It's like they just heard a Necrophagist solo and went "Yep that's the song".

StarGazer is one of my favorite bands ever. Along with Atheist I've listened to their stuff probably around 100 times.

CC probably the most popular, but I'll take any of these bands over CC: Dismember, Immolation, Incantation (First 4 albums), Morbid Angel Abominations to Covenant), Drawn and Quartered (Underrated and consistently kick ass), Azarath, Vader, and Deceased.

I think the reason why tech death gets the cold-shoulder nowadays is because it’s nothing but try hard virtuosos competing in the fret board olympics. Music sounds like an arcade. It also doesn’t help that some of these new tech death bands adopted the Deathcore stink on to their music.

There's a certain devil around here whose favorite death metal band is Six Feet Under. Won't mention any names though.

Saw necrophagist when they toured and they were so technical I didn’t know if they were actually playing or warming up haha then they got off the stage. The only thing cool about their set was some old guy moshing like the DRI guy…..wish necrophagist had some aggression like DRI

Technical Death Metal can be good, Tech Death is always Crap. If you know, you know...

Aside from the first two albums I ain't a Death fan, but no denying their influence. They're popular based on their music, and nostalgia. Back in the day I never saw Death shirts and patches like I do now at shows.

Hey J-Dawg, If you could meet and interview any musician who is now dead who would it be?

Epitaph was very influential on that tech death movement. Besides them, it was Death "Human" and Cynic "Focus." I really dug what California was doing with their music during the late 2000's. Decrepit Birth's "Diminishing Between Worlds" was master class, brah brah! Even The Faceless went all tech death with their "Planitary Duality" album around the same time. Between Willowtip and Unique Leader, they were putting out some good stuff. Then Rings of Saturn arrived and aliens became the thing..

P.s. I don't count Cynic as a Tech Death band. I like them as a Prog Rock/Metal band tho. Some great catchy and beautiful songs in their catalog. I see Cynic as one of my guilty pleasure bands. (Guilty Pleasure because the music is super friendly)

I like the Dawg's defense of wrestling. I still love it to this day but usually, i only watch the older stuff. Tough, jacked maniacs playing out all kinds of drama, stories, fights, team ups, you name it, combined with the awesome announcers, pulling off RIDICULOUS moves as you said.. no way that even the best "Pro" anyone can step in a ring and do that stuff. Wrestling is also a huge factor in fighting too, real fighting. If you can wrestle, you can probably win 9/10 fights with the right takedowns/holds etc. Wrestling is the shit. Always was.

Sup J-Dawg! On the topic of Cannibal Corpse, what do you think of the people who only like the Chris Barnes albums? Are they just missing out on some good tunes, or is it a fair preference? I think both vocalists have done good work with CC, but I tend to gravitate towards the earlier albums for production and atmosphere reasons. Not a bad record in the bunch, though!

Well typically someone's 'Death' is caused after getting 'Cancer' ...then a 'Mortician' may do an 'Autopsy' to be sure. You can read their 'Obituary' before they are put into a 'Grave' and sometimes a corpse-dwelling demon (summoned through an 'Incantation') will leave them 'Possessed' where they will likely become a 'Cannibal Corpse' or a goulish 'Monstrosity' with the sole purpose to inflict 'Brutality' with 'Sadistic Intent' on unsuspecting victims. Sorry...I'm bored -ha.

If you go by album sales. Cannibal Corpse is the best death metal band in the world. I like several bands more than Cannibal Corpse.

I bought Necrophagist epitaph when it came out. Everyone was talking about it.. as a young guitarist I was very impressed with the playing. Real talk though, I got pretty burned out on it fairly quickly. Unfortunately they inspired a bunch of really annoying bands..

How is nobody mentioning Deeds of Flesh as a contender for greatest death metal band?? Their EP and first 5 records are some of the most consistent, creative, and well executed death metal records that each have a unique sound. They have so many catchy yet brutal songs with good riffs and lyrics.

Hockey players way tougher than professional wrestlers, and their fights ain't choreographed. An MLB catcher is tougher too.

Immolation, Incantation, Morbid Angel, Bolt Thrower are all infinitely more worthy of the greatest death metal band title than Cannibal. It's about quality not just quantity. Honestly the only people I've met who name CC as the greatest are either not that into death metal or are blinded by nostalgia as they were a seminal band for them when they first got into death metal.

I disagree simply because I'm the biggest fan of the later Cannibal Corpse, in fact the Corpsegrinder albums are my favorites of the band, that means jack shit about what other bands I listen to to me, because I definitely could say that the other 4 bands you mentioned in my book has better songs, but it's more about impact and influence in this case when talking about the "greatest" Death Metal band in music.

@@blackwintersday Vader definitely gotta be up there, personally my favorite album is "Welcome To The Morbid Reich", cause Pawel that god damn guy can play like no other guy, I think that was the first time someone's drumming nearly made me shit myself, and of course, to me the biggest genius Piotr. I love his growls because they're completely unique to any other singer I've heard pretty much, and he just has a great energy in the songs.

Ok so rpg with all band names from hellsheadbangers and characters will take place in Golgotha and enemy's in canoes with flat brims and pantera slipknot ts try and attack you and try and takeover Golgotha with the blasphemy speakings of false metal and names as such the "naked whipper" "satanicwarmaster" surely will be in the storyline 😂the "mortician" "exhumed" "immortal" etc etc places characters the whole nine a story like lord of the rings 😂😂 obviously some necrophilia and torture and felonious yerna touching will surely make the story line gore everything 😂😂 bands you love bands you hate of course not so much from hellsheadbangers but you get the drift🤘🧐 as the story has been foretold in Golgotha all will be told in a british medieval times accent of course or its not legit 😂😂or mabey not so much an rpg mabey a book series of some sort🧐🤔you will have allies as well "George corpsegrinder" "azter" the list is not final but will be thought out 😂😂and J dawg will surely be a huge part of the story mabey the main character idk yet🤔you will be met by a man in Golgotha he will be wearing a hemorrhage t shirt that is built like house in Golgotha 😂 😂🤣as he will ask of you important questions that you will have to answer correctly to find out if you are with the men in canoe's if so you will be dispatched and looted and left naked in the black forrest😂😂😂😂as you're pink thong shall be exposed to all Golgotha as the J dawg has left you're rotting corpse to the roadside 🤣🤣this shit could go on and on 😂😂

Wouldn't call Cannibal the best dm band. The drumming has problems and most of the albums are very similar. One can argue Death would be a contender for the best death metal band, though they are not my favourite. Dismember and Immolation would be other contenders. But Cannibal are consistent and all their stuff is good.

I don't listen to later Death as much as the first 2 but still there is nothing bad about the later Death albums and they are influential and important in their own right. They are not my favorite dm band but they are a better contender for the best then Cannibal.

@@SuicidalGrind Paul even admits he is an inferior drummer to the best drummers in the genre. He can't blast as fast as faster drummers. He holds the band back. His drumming is also not as interesting as many other drummers. So he holds the band back. Imagine how much Cannibal would rip with Pete Sandoval on the drums.

@@RichardCranium. I couldn't disagree more. Cannibal IS partially what they are because of Paul's drumming style to me, that's literally a good portion of what I love about my favorite albums!

The average pro golfer might not be an athlete but he probably practiced more and is more skilled then a pro wrestler.
