Man genshin looks so fun but it plays like a watered down A-RPG copying a little too much from BotW. If the characters had more than ONE unique move and ONE ultimate that both usually take 30 seconds to recharge REGARDLESS of being good or terrible

Fun fact: in the game, the akademya hates any form of art, unless it's about intellectual topics. This song really captures that.

Once you've finished the main(Archon) quest, it's clear that everyone embraced arts just fine bcs it was never hated by Sumeru's people to begin with. To add as to why any kind of arts is forbidden bcs arts required imagination and creative thought process. These two things would hinder what the Akademiya was planning in the main quest. Let's just say that plan is a selfish plan for their own benefits.

Barring Liyue who's god is now retired by the time you get to this point in the story (and is a whole thing in itself) Every time the topic is brought up, we get a "I'll explain later" because the fatui show up to complicate things.

Does he outsource research and mainly base the themes/tone of the songs on personal playing experience? To write such crazy well done lyrics and have to do all the research with maybe 2 people would be insane. I am curious what the path is to these songs? Some don't require as much because it is somewhat obvious but most of his songs have some element in the lyrics only people who play actually recognize. I haven't played much Genshin but I am sure there were a lot of 'excited to hear certain details' moments.

@@MathWiz911 a lot of the genshin lore isn't obtainable without exploring literally every single tiny aspect of the game, including parts about celestia and the dragon sovereigns (though they are in the game descriptions for certain items and everything else, e.t.c.) so i wouldn't be surprised if he took some research outside of the game as well, but i agree, it is indeed really good. (ofc i'm speaking off my speculation, i don't know what he actually did)

The pun about only one of the moon sisters being canon is so great. There is so many layers to it besides just one of the sisters being named Cannon. But also the fact that out of the three supposed moons that should exist according to the story book, everyone in the human realm only can see one of them. 🤩

@@sourwitch2340 Choosing pronouns is stupid, it kills the whole purpose of them. Question: Why are there pronouns in the first place? Why not just one 3rd person pronoun? Why is there 'he/she' if there could just be 'they' for all? It's to distinguish male and female. It's to choose which people are 'compatible' to form a relationship. Now if anyone can choose the pronoun they want, the whole meaning gets lost. 'She/her' is supposed to be female, but if ANYONE can use them, doesn’t that make them lose their femininity? So there's no point in choosing pronouns, if you think there is, then 'he/him' is neither male, 'she/her' is neither female, so there's no point in choosing those.

@@MiyuKawasaki my counterargument: someone's gender isn't really important enough for it to be needed to be communicated through pronouns anyway. People can much better decide if someone is compatible for a relationship based off of other variables than their gender, variables that you could only find out if you already know their gender, which can easily be communicated even without pronouns. So gendered pronouns are just an unnecessary step. Additionally, someone's gender isn't even important information outside of looking for a romantic/sexual relationship, or in a medical setting, which are two exeptions I think are quite situational.

I am stunned by this song. It came completely out of no where, but it was such a welcomed surprise. The idea for it to be a recap of the world through the Academia's Scholars was amazing, the clever lyrics were phenomenal to listen to especially since it is vague enough to not spoil any direct details of the story, but enough is given for those who love the game to pick it up. This entire song is such a masterpiece!

I love how the scholar tell you the lore in song, but when the lore gets overwhelming for the viewer he tries to simplify it, like the layers of a cake lyric, it's lyrical genius. Thank you for this amazing song, Stupendium.

Funnily enough in lore, anybody who possess knowledge of certain parts of Teyvat's history are sentenced to death. There's literally a god that got sentenced to death by Celestia for accidentally reading a book containing knowledge about Teyvat's history. It wasn't even a normal history book, it was lacking in details and even then the god, Orobaxi, got killed for it.

“Look at me! I’m only 26!” That line killed me

Stupes might be the only person who can pull off 6 minutes of an old-I mean 26 years young-man explaining lore vividly, and still make such an incredible song! Also, oo Oxygen keeps making such awesome tracks to anything and everything.

Never played Genshin, but I'll always be there for another of Stupes' ever-solid bangers and their lyrical genius!!

Giving it a go right now would actually be a pretty good idea. Because of how frequent updates are (every 40-45 days) you’ll likely be able to get through the main story and some quests pretty casually before the next region comes out in a few months

In the quests they mention a thing or two or just enough to complete the quest while mantaining a continuity sense. Agree! If you want to get reall, deep into it, it's all there. If you don't want to, then you don't have to sit through hours of lore that you don't care about. I also love finding hidden clues and coming up with theories or reading other people's theories.

Never played Genshin before, but if they played this song for their ads, I would 10000% get on board. You are a music mastermind. This has restored my will to continue existing on a molecular level.

I gotta say, learning the entire Genshin lore for a sponsorship is pure commitment! I believe that no one could've done it better than you. Wow, I am speechless!

I think "this is to complex I'll save it for the next verse" and "let's break for a chorus then come back for the war" was just Stupes speaking also "really convenient that they all happen to rhyme" made me laugh

Even as a lore theorist, this song had things I didn't know about! Guess it's back to the books for me! Amazingly done, good sir, outstanding lyrics, rhyme and rhythm.

My hopes for this are v e r y high so far- i doubt itll disappoint Edit: I was right. It did not disappoint, also, the 7 minutes for a genshin song is just *too* perfect

I've been here long before this song, but I can tell you, you are correct, Stupes is incapable of making a bad song. The effort they put into every video is undebatable, and nowhere does that show MORE than this video. Where, (being a Genshin Lore-hog myself, I can tell you) nothing in this video came from Hoyoverse, because a LOT of these conjectures are observations the fan community have come to, and many aren't 100% accurate, but we simplify them to help us understand. The truly wild thing is I think Stupes mentioned they hadn't played Genshin before this video, meaning they freaking BINGED Genshin Lore videos dating back MULTIPLE YEARS to catch up on all this. (Especially since MANY of these revelations AREN'T in the game anymore being part of temporary events)

If they don't give you an in-game npc as a reference to this character or something, there is no justice.

This was not expected, but was a banger nonetheless!

The fact that you guys actually tipped into the lore for this one is something I didn't expect and I was happily surprised. I also liked how you put emphasis on how little we know of certain things because they are badly recorded in the lore. Amazing lyrics, amazing production overall. I'm very satisfied. Thank you.

This is the perfect song for people who think Genshin is a shallow game just to appeal to the players and filled with waifu's... there is so much lore and complexity, and the fact that you managed to summarize it well in a really awsome sounding song- is awsome! I know the chorus will get stuck in my ear for months to come!

Was NOT expecting this crossover and sponsorship, this reminds me of the "Matter of Facts Rap" with how much knowledge, lore and Pyro elemental energy was spat with these bars!

From now on this is what I'm going to recommend to anyone interested in learning the deeper lore of genshin because it genuinely covers more (and does a shockingly better job than several of the lore channels) as well as being a proper banger. Great work as always stupes!

I like how the "I did forget to mention..." stuff at the end is everything that's ACTUALLY relevant to someone just starting out in the story, with the bulk of the song being more "deep lore you can look up if you want to but don't really need to know to enjoy the game (or will easily pick up along the way for the couple of points that actually are important)". Also I want you to know that just like Control, I started playing this game because of you Stupes, I hope you're happy with yourself. :-P

This is actually pretty good for a crash course in Genshin's lore. A lot of broad strokes but it's really good for if you want to avoid actual story spoilers.

I think this is Lisa-approved, so long as you returned the books you cited on time. More seriously, this is yet another wonderful work you've made, and I was pleasantly surprised to see you had made it. You summed up the lore very well, and frankly more understandably than some lore-buffs and theory-crafters, since sometimes it can feel like you need a new Dictionary just to keep the various bits and pieces straight! Ad Astra Abyssosque!

Also the cosplay is a banger. I love how even before the lyrics about aetiology and history you can tell who this Scholar is because of the Vahumana symbol on their hat! Could've just forgone that but it was such a lovely detail. Still great work.

As someone who read until the lore up until well after the calamity after a month of playing genshin, I can confirm this is very accurate and I'm impressed you put it in a song... BUT THERE WAS NOTHING ABOUT FORBIDDEN KNOWLEDGE

Yep, just ignore Inazuma. The design for the region itself is pretty good, but the archon quest's writing is awful. I think Hoyo was just trying to find an excuse to kill off a Harbinger and make the electro archon the way she is. All the archon quests after Inazuma were pretty good though, and Fontaine was just peak.

This honestly helped me understand Genshin lore more than playing the game every day for 2 years.

It's a great open world game, free-to-play friendly and this is actually a good crash course on the major parts of the background lore that even many fans have trouble piecing together. I've been playing since launch and that's been about 2.5 years. If you don't want to jump into one quite as meaty and already settled, try it's sister series that just released, Honkai Star Rail. It's not an open world, and combat is turn based, but otherwise has a lot of the same feel.

I think my brain just melted taking in several barrel fulls of lore for a game I've never played. I'm imagining many sleepless nights trying to compact all that into a song, but as always, you pull it off with your usual grade-A musical fluidity and an absolute banger of a track along with a costume that made me do a double take to be sure it was definitely you under all that extra hair.😂❤

I never knew I needed a Genshin song from you

I am honestly impressed by the detail you put into this song about the genshin lore. There are a few hints that things are also linked to a greater cosmology such as things in "Honkai Impact" but that stuff is so deep dive theory crafting that almost none of it can be reliably proven. Honestly as someone who has been playing since day one and loves the story around games you have quite succinctly put a broad overview of the lore into 6 minutes of "easily" listened to explanation. Lastly no joke about the lore it is exhausting sometimes trying to keep up and fit new information given into all the old stuff.

I've been subscribed to The Stupendium for a while, and I just started playing Genshin Impact, so this is amazing.

as someone who has suffered heavily from genshin brainrot i absolutely love this! honestly a good way to highlight how cool some of the cutscenes are from the game. definitely going on my Spotify playlists. i would definitely love to see more genshin songs (but honestly any stupendium songs are great!)
