A STRESSFUL Day Boating on the ICW from Beaufort to Charleston | GREAT LOOP
Today we have our longest day on America's Great Loop yet. We left our mooring in Beaufort, South Carolina and cruised all the way to Charleston, South Carolina. While we didn't plan to make it all the way to Charleston, we weighed our options and decided to dock for only our second time on the Loop. It's a beautiful but stressful day, hope you enjoy!
Thanks for watching!
Cheers from the Loop,
Jennifer and Elliot

ABOUT US
Hi! We are high school sweethearts from Atlanta, Georgia who decided to take a year off to travel around the world. Together we decided to create vlogs for our journey as a fun way to remember it. On September 15, 2019, we left Atlanta with 3 bags, 2 one-way tickets, and 1 goal of traveling for a whole year. Little did we know, 6 months later we would find ourselves in a nationwide lockdown in India. After spending 5 months in India, we came back to the United States and decided to purchase a 34’ Trawler, dive head first into boat life, and kick off America’s Great Loop.
The good, the bad, the ugly - and most importantly, the real and real funny. We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem.
Thank you for following us along our journey!

You kids crack me up! You so “got” this! You truly are two wonderful people! 😎
When you guys come into a docking situation port or starboard you should come in bow first an attach a line to a cleat on the dock then turn your wheel towards the dock and bump your reverse gear in an out and it will walk the stern right in along the dock. It works the same with leaving a dock. Loop your bow line through a cleat on the dock turn your wheel away from the dock and bump reverse in an out until your stern is clear and release the tag end of the dock line and pull it in while continuing to reverse out.👍

Will have to take a look, thanks for the recommendation Rob!
Charleston is a great city. So many great restaurants and one of my favorites is just across from where you are docked. It is called California Dreaming and the food is fantastic!

@@SchoandJo my pleasure! I'm looking at a 38' 1970 Chris Craft Commander Sedan to do the loop with my Old English Sheepdog. I'm getting lots of great advice from watching your channel! Thanks for letting us tag along on your adventures! No offense, Elliott, but I'll skip the whole breaking of the wrist thing 😁

That is a great plan, 0/10 don’t recommend breaking a wrist, even if the helicopter ride was pretty cool 😁

One of our guilty boat pleasures! And seriously the people we’ve met along this loop have been some of the kindest!
In shallow water always look to your stern to see if your churning up mud.. of not your doing good
I just discovered your channel and love what you're doing. We live in Charleston and have a 44' Tollycraft. Have done this route many times. I have to compliment both of you on your communication with each other. Outstanding!

@@SchoandJo The Baltimore show was small, with corresponding smaller crowds. Loved several of the Krogen, and drooled over the Fleming (all are costly new). Lots of lectures and everyone was happy to discuss why decisions were made to design/build in very different ways. I plan to attend others as we get closer to pulling the trigger. Retirement by 2023!

@@SchoandJo Just dreaming now...Paying off debt so that we have zero at launch time. We will probably take longer than one year...but like you guys we have limited boating experience. Wifey has basically none, and I used to race sailboats as crew. BTW WHere are you guys now...heading down the Mississippi?

@@neilstagner1961 That’s a fantastic plan! We raced only a couple times in Melbourne when we had sailing lessons, it was a thrill! We are currently in the Chesapeake, a bit behind schedule but that’s alright! It’s the journey not the destination….
Wow, my wife and I were literally just talking about doing this trip except starting from Bluffton (about another hour or so of travel). We were going to be a bit ballsy with our 21ft pontoon but jusy stay in the inner water ways like you guys did, but still makes me nervous nonetheless! Which marina did you end up staying overnight at?

Technically it is a convection microwave, so pretty much an oven! Although it only goes 400 deg, which is a bit low for Pizza.
