A Story analysis of Needy Streamer Overload

This is a video. I've spent 15 whole scripts trying to make it work and while I may not be happy with the finished product, at this point I just want to get it out there and move onto something else. It may not be perfect by any means but whatever I upload next will be much better because of this learning experience. There's a lot I want to do better next time

    I can't believe that Orange compared me to some common 'fan' when I am far more than that. I am his friend, his ally, his best mate. I was there from the START. Each stream where I'd show up the chat would go crazy, and I could feel OrangE's mood light up from the mere sight of me joining him. I'm basically the CO OWNER of the OrangE youtube channel. He'd be NOTHING without me, the same way that I am nothing without him. I won't let these casuals divide me and my pookie bear. The only reason that OrangE is yet to accept my left 4 dead 2 party invites is because so many other nobodies are trying to invite him as well, and he simply cannot find my invite. But It's alright and I'm not upset. He only loves his true fans and, when he has the time, he'll join me in my gaming sessions and we'll discuss adding me to any and all of his future videos as a partner. A +1 if you will.

    The writer of the game (Nyalra) was inspired by real people, real lives, his mother being a big inspiration, and I believe all (if not most) endings are based off real events, including the one from the top of a building(this one was based off some girl not going to name but she streamed it on "niconico"). Also, a bit obvious, the game is heavily focusing on the streaming culture of japan, which is very different from the west. We can say the horror parts are things that can also happen to people which is sad.. and the weird things that you see after mixing those "funny substances" can also be hallucinations or delusions one can go through after using them... i guess i like the fact they show those substances are not meant to be toyed with.

    After hearing backstory of this character I think it's more about shame, home problems that put people into the addiction in the first place. The character hated society because she saw that all adults always been putting masks pretending to be someone else even in real life instead staying true to themselves. Her situation with parents and trying to avoid homelessness living with one of her viewers which made her target for bullying caused her to spiral even more, even if she wasn't addicted to social media she would be addicted to something else. Game feels more how problems and shame, being rejected can make people spiral into the addiction and hatred for people around them of any kind, like veterans with cocaine. It focuses on problems caused by stress, shame and rejection.

    Between the "not horrible" endings, and the painful future ending... It seems like the message isn't about being anti-streaming, or "go outside", but more specifically to not chase fame. If you want to do something, do it, but only if it's what YOU want; don't just do something because you think other people want to see it. The analytics are your enemy, not the activity itself.

    I wasn't originally going to comment, but I saw the description and wanted to say I really enjoyed the editing and script of the video! I realized a little over partway through that it was kind of.. nonlinear? The script goes from topic to topic organically instead of in a consecutive or chapter-based way, and I really enjoyed that. I've been watching a good amount of video essays recently while I draw and I like the lessened (or lack of) defined structure in this, since it feels like you would give an explanation and then give additional context as needed without feeling discomposed. I know this won't make you suddenly like the video, but I still wanted to say that i really enjoyed it and think you have a very unique explanation style :)

    Overall I think the game has a very good message that I think a lot of people need to hear: There's nothing good that comes from being a terminally online anti-social nobody. While the internet can be a powerful tool and a good place to chat with people, it's not a place you'd want to live on. Go outside and talk to people. They're not all as bad as you think. And your real self is infinitely more important than your online persona. In fact pretty much everything is.

  • @jjQlLlLq

    @jjQlLlLq

    5 ай бұрын

    It's a hell of a journey to really go through that though - like first of all, "go outside", but where do you start exactly? How do you meet people when you're a school dropout and financially poor? How do you know how to socialize when your parents are bad friends at home and you have no siblings nor friends who care to stick with you even if you're hella socially awkward? To an only child, friends are like adopted siblings. But people with siblings/good family may think that friends are more disposable/temporary, so they aren't as dependent. It often becomes a one-way relationship. Internet is great at getting nerds, geeks, and socially excluded mental abyss sufferers all over the world to meet. That's how I met my now-fiance, my gaming+geeking friend, and all my cool hobby acquaintances who are mostly creative creators. But I acknowledge that it gets mmmyeah _mental_ when you overdose it. It's really a double-edged sword. Basically when you're alone and disposable to most other people and you can't truly bond with them, it's just gonna be a ride to become content with that fact & be alright with solitude. To stop chasing the neediness for external validation that you didn't properly get growing up. Not saying that it's impossible, I'm on that ride myself. Not as giga unhinged as she is (at least not to my memory…?), but, yeah. Heck I dunno if I would've made it without the few friends I have who've been with me through all my madness eras. I've no idea how others are gonna really fulfill it without a single friend. It's almost saddening to think that a person may not ever heal until they meet ANYONE who can truly accompany them. That's why I see no problem with having an imaginary friend of sorts to support you. It's NOT a complete replacement, but humans are social animals, and when literally nobody wants you and you haven't quite figured out how to human yet, then it's a pretty good magical internal support which our brain provides. With a BIG IMPORTANT NOTE that you still continue to seek betterment for yourself, so that the imaginary friend wouldn't be like a voice encouraging you down the deep end. Since the things that your mind conjure, is the result of the unspoken thoughts & feelings that're already in your mind. There's already researches that shows people who had/have healthy imaginary friends can be more socially able than those who don't. So with good care, it legit can be good.

    @jjQlLlLq The thing is, you don't know. No one knows how and where you make friends. I didn't, I thought I never would. But the thing is, it never happens when you are looking for it. It just sorta happens. Some say something, you reply, you start talking, and then you just make friends. That how it went with me. There is no "way" to get friends. You can't go up to some rando on the street and expect them to be friends with you. But like at work or at school, there is no issue with striking up a conversation. You have to at least try.

    I think it is more complex than that (also very much depends on the person) but I agree. Honestly I think the real underlying message is to just think about this stuff. Go try talking to people, and see how it is. I’m sure there are some people for whom the internet truly is better, but you never know what you are missing out on if you don’t try.

    @@sintheemptyone8108 actually I second this entirely - I am the kind of person that pretty much despises talking to people, outside of a select few. I think what streamer overload is saying though is to just think about it, and I think no harm can come from contemplating what you want your life to be socially.

Ending videos abruptly but with it making a good logical point is a cool move, I dig it It's kind of a catalyst of what makes you stand out from other YT peers, like you've said it yourself this website promotes putting on a mask. To top it off it paints YT as sth that people can do for profit, developing a wormhole of selling one's soul to appease the algorithm and chase the influencer pipeline. You don't remind users to subscribe, you don't do a shallow "thanks for watching" outro, you're just making videos on your own terms and I hope you stick to it. Good work king ❤

    I think whats even more saddening about internet overload is that it emphasizes even more addictions and how they play off eachother, her addiction to streaming leaves her stressed so she "spends time with 'p-chan'" whom isnt real which is clearly an allegory for another type of addiction, and she does this so that she can get the high of the stream, and convince her self shes cooling off afterwards when its just the concept of addiction getting worse and worse and gaining more addictions
