😁💨 there's a few really nice examples of mature untrimmed trachys with full skirts of dead fronds on my Cambridge Botanic Garden video from last year. Really inspiring.

Your garden is looking so WONDERFUL and your Arid bed and your Cacti and succulents in the greenhouse are all looking INCREDIBLE, and your Aztekium is a BEAUTY, so sorry about your opuntia humifusa's, they are normally the most cold hardy, your collection is STUNNING, the weather has been mad here too, heavy downpours, very windy and then sun the next minute haha, thanks so much for sharing the fantastic update with us, and Happy Spring, sending lots of love and happiness and PLANT POWER from Belfast for a super Sunday today XXXX

Thanks Lyn, really appreciate the comments. I'll have another go with the pads I saved from the o. humifusa but I'm glad my other Opuntia species have done well. This year I'm going to focus on streamlining my cactus collection and really lean into the genera that brings me the most joy: copiapoa, ariocarpus and aztekium. Would love to add a geohintonia and a strombocactus too, but all in good time. 😁

The way things are going this year I'll end up leaving my arid shelter on 365 days per year😂

I've thought a lot about increasing my rainwater catchment capacity this winter. I think I could be easily self-sufficient even in a summer drought.

We've had -5⁰C but only for a night at a time, no prolonged freezes like December 2022. One more night if 1⁰C tonight and then it looks fine! 🤞🤞🤞🤞

How much are the gunnera ?

Be careful saying on camera about dividing the Gunnera… You can no long divide, sell or even give away divisions 👍🏼

@@johnm6011 all are now banned as of Feb. Manicata they are saying is actually still Tinctoria under a different name or a hybrid of so they have banned it. You can’t sell, divide, grow, gift to friends etc etc. Daft rules but rules none the less.
