2010. I’m in college studying abroad. I hear this song come on my iPod. My friend had made me a playlist with this song on it. I am on a metro in Paris riding around on a sunny day. I’m riding solo. I’m shopping for French lingerie in the department store clearance sections. I go out into the street and I observe the French teenagers who are effortlessly more stylish than me. I smile and think about going out tonight in a city I am just getting to know. I met an English girl at the hostel who invited me to the club. I hear the accordions in the metro drape over the accordion in the song. This is my memory of this song and it is forever one of my top plays 🥰

@@rlc8708 💕💕 incroyable! I spent two weeks in Paris, met up with the English girl in Berlin, then spent the next months studying Russian in Moscow - you can imagine the stories I have about clubbing! ENJOY and don’t overthink - the late nights, the papeteries, the fashion, the musees, get to Versailles if you haven’t already, enjoy the small parks, and talk to as many people as you feel comfortable with. Be as present as you can be! Live your best life, you are just getting started 💕

@@EliseGiammanco thank you so much for this. You have no idea how much I needed to hear this today. I have been in Rennes for 5 months and I absolutely love it here. I even have an incredible French boyfriend I met two months ago. But now I’m coping with the fact I leave in July. It’s a struggle to stay present, but I needed to read this today :) I’ve done plenty of small tourist vacations in France and enjoyed everything thoroughly. I hope to come back in a year after I’ve finished my degree to keep learning French :)
@rlc8708

@@Charlie_Loves it depends where you want to study! But in general, I recommend looking into the programs your university offers and considering the amount of time you want to spend abroad. If you can, stay with a host family, you learn the language faster that way. I’m in a student dorm quite isolated, which can be rough. With whichever country you choose, look into the political issues currently. In France, there has been a lot of manifestations in the past months and a lot of my classes were canceled… But if I had one piece of advice, try not to romanticize where you’re going. I saw many other American students become very disappointed when they stayed here and realized it wasn’t perfect. It’s a country with problems just like any other. The hardest part of all of this before you’re there is getting the visa :) but it’s a lot of fun, don’t get me wrong!! Studying abroad is incredible, it will change your life and make you grow in many different ways. Best of luck ❤️

At least we still have house music. EDM was a new phrase and it didn't suck back then.
It’s crazy how it feels like we all can’t get over out 2000-2012. It’s like our parents just went with the flow, and we are all stuck wanting to go back. Idk what the hell it is, but we all feel it at times.
