On another hand, it's sad that only a tragic or severe moment like this can bring a family closer. My cousin and her mom are always fighting, as well my aunts with each other. Just makes me wonder how I could ever pull them back together, without using a tragedy for them to bond together over.

My wife suffered a lot with her step dad who felt she was in the way. She has two half brothers and sister. she was unloved both by her step dad and biological dad who left her when she was young.

Tbh the stepmom is being a little nudge. Every people have their own choice and small things like no sun light, unorganized clothes, and being on an ipad all the time just indicate that she is an introvert hence doesnt want to be bothered. All i see is a girl defending her self. Wake up Moms, more over Stepmoms, adults need space and teenager is just a phase. If you go hard, they will angry and eventually disagree and leave you and disrespect you. Then how to approach the teen? Be gentle and dont be rude and pushy, they will respect you.
