    I came late to the party but I am a ITE students and went up to Polytechnic I can say with fact, ITE teachers are way more approachable then Polytechnic, they want you to succeed in life. Even classmate are more bonded together even there isn't much of 'that nerd' or 'muscle head', my class may joke around that but when comes to crunch period for exam, we all help one another. I do have some classmate dropped out and years later in my Poly life, I saw one of my dropout classmate, even we never talked much, we still have good chat and see how each of us are doing (he was an electrical technician) and I do wish him all the best. What is one thing I take away from my ITE teachers is that never look down on anyone and always look at people in the same level, you will be surprised what you can learn from this people beyond your vision.

    Is poly and ITE equivalent to tertiary education like that of attending college/university?

  • @kaitlynchou

    @kaitlynchou

    3 жыл бұрын

    RDU23 yup, but sometimes ite or poly is considered the same level as junior college (ie pre uni) cos you start attending ite or poly at the same age as you would in a jc. But sometimes after people graduate from ite they go to a poly, and some people after poly go to university. JC people usually go to uni after graduating

    As a current ITE college east student, everyone treats everyone in class as a team rather than having a me or oneself attitude. No one leaves no one behind despite how rush we are. Great job chers of electrical technology nitec

    I hope they can keep up their great work, too often great teachers like this work so hard to bring change. Then a new boss comes along and changes all the great things. Then great teachers lose motivation. It happened where I worked

    book smart vs street smart, they are the people that put ideas on paper and make it reality ok! why must Singaporean have mindset where you go technical school you are considered lower tier, sheesh.

    It's a stigma born out of educational streaming. Streaming helped in lowering dropout rate, but it also psychologically demoralise students at the lower tier as "stupid".

    I used to study in Vocational Institute (The present day ITE)back in the early 70s.Collegues, strangers always look down on us.But due to sheer determination,and hard work people starts looking up to you.Now I have been advising our younger generations to study hard.I have known some one who studied in ITE, he's now an I/O with the Spore Traffic Police Division.

    I really respect these pool of teachers from ITE compared to those from elite schools. Just hope all the teachers in SG will continue to be passionate! And please if you realise you cannot teach, please do something else for your rice bowl. Don’t make the students suffer! I am lucky to have genuine teachers but overcome some of those kind of teachers who were luckily only “temporary”.

    Hey, I am confused with the education system in SG, so does this mean that Poly and ITE are the ones that handles courses/degrees that involves non menial and sedentary work? you know, like the odd jobs (plumbing, manual labor, electrical works etc.) and operations related jobs (housekeepers, waiters, chefs, baristas etc.)?
