A Smart Light Switch that Pops and Ticks? How I Fixed it! - GE Z Wave Light Switch
Do you have a smart light switch that pops or ticks? That's not normal! In this video, I will show you how I replaced my clicking one way light switch (GE Z Wave ZW4005 switch). My smart light switch (which was installed years before I lived in this house, let the record show) started making a popping noise almost every second after a power outage, so it was time to replace it.

Do you have a source for how to fix the neutral wire and put it back into the bundle of wires? Ha, I hope that question makes sense.
When installing the zwave switch it requires the extra wire it's just a jumper wire. Remove that short wire and you been done
Would have been really helpful if you showed us how to fix to neutral wire issue
Is that popping noise dangerous? 🤔 I'm not able to change it right away and don't want my house to burn down 😅

If this helps anyone, I lost 3 switches after a power failure here in SoFlo. There is a teardown video on you tube (kzread.info/dash/bejne/f6d4tstuY9TXZLQ.html) that got me closer to what I was looking for, which was to actually fix the switch itself -- I ended up replacing the 25v 10mf capacitor with a 50v 10Mf cap removed from some old PC board that I had laying around and it worked out well with the switch once again working as expected. to be aware, the case opens easy (4 screws) then carefully lift up the antenna from the case and the hardest part (for me at least) were the 2 plastic clips holding the bottom board in place (they are sandwiched boards with the top one being the zwave functionality and the other is the power board) out of the case. I used a flat screwdriver to gently bend back the clip so the board was above it and then did the same on the other side. it may help to place a thin plastic or similar tool to hold the firt side above the clip so it does not fall back under the clip. Once you massage it out, you need to desolder the 6 pins that connect the board and the, desolder out the old cap and solder in the replacement. On one switch the above cap worked. On another switch, I see a difft capacitor bulged on top so will test / replace that one if needed first. May create a test board as it seems these GE Zwave switches go from time to time and this is cheaper than paying $3x for a new switch each time.
