As a person who's distributed CPAP machines to patients I've always known the micro CPAP to be a fake product. I'm glad to see more professionals are standing up to these frauds taking advantage of desperate people looking for a solution.

@@PurplePandasROCK123 I'm sure they're working on it but physics is against you with those piezo-electric blowers. You need to be able to displace enough air to fill your lungs in each breath and something that small simply doesn't have the volume. Maybe one day.

Got a social ad for this and nearly bought it straight away as its so easy within the walled garden of Instagram and Apple Pay. Very glad I didn't and googled the product first. What a brilliant debunk this video is, thank you for taking the time to make it!
Appreciate you being honest and helping others learn about it
An honest and necessary video. A lot of media stunt about this product, without a single person assisted. Great public utility. Thank you so much

Thank you for testing these things. You are right, people with OSA (including those already receiving partially - but sadly not completely - effective treatment) are desperate for improvement and it does make us vulnerable to those wanting to profit from misery, even to those with good intentions, and it helps to have expert opinions on options that become available.

Thank you. I recently saw one advertised (NZ) and was tempted as I need a travel cpap when camping. It's so cheap, I thought it was dodgy. Whoever manufactured this really can't lose because they got $2m to develop it and have priced it so cheaply, it'll sell in the millions too. Needs more people to say "Don't buy!"

I see this advertised everywhere, mostly on Instagram, and I always report is as a scam (which it is). Hello Dr. Veer, I am the vet student that you saw months ago that recommended the youtube timestamps! I was supposed to have a phone consult with you today (12/05 2:30pm), however my clinical rotations placed me on farm rotations this 2 weeks . I was waiting for your call with my phone in front of me from 2pm to 330pm, however I did not realise my poor signal along with the wifi settings of the campus prevented your call from most likely going through via 4g/wifi calling. I was very much looking forward to your call the past few months and should have probably rescheduled had I known my rotation schedule location would have conflicted. I have written you an email on Mycare as well, hopefully I wouldn't have to wait months before speaking to you again. I am very much looking forward to better my condition and am looking forward to hearing from you and follow your advice again soon. -Jimmy

I literally had my phone in front of me the whole time and even told my supervisors I that I was expecting an important call from 2-3 today. I understand there's a process with everything, let me know what I need to do or who to contact as well to get everything back on track!
I'm glad I found this video, but the issue is CPAP machine are $600 to well over $1000. It's just stupid. It blows air. Our medical system is broken.
Thanks for sharing this saves me £20
I wish you worked in Australia, because I would certainly be one of your patients.
Was on proper mashine. Takes week or so to get used to mask but even 4-5 hrs a night means alot and equals to 8-10 hrs a sleep without it with snoring. My advice is to buy a mask tht covers mouth and nose rather then just nose as its more sensitive to ur nose only. Also spend lil more and buy automatic rather then manual as it pumps air only when u need it and not pump enourmous pressure soonest u put it on as it can be irritating and harder to fall asleep where automatic will only push small amounts while u stil awake and breathing on “ur own and once u asleep in my case it pumped alot to keep my air regulated.
You are absolutely right! You are the man! I've been using CPAP Resmed S8 since 5 years with a nasal p10 "mask" which is the same size. You'll never get the same air pressure from any micro-machine as resmed gives you! Probably in year 2100...
I am finally approved for the Inspire machine. I am hoping to get it in the next 6 months. It gets put in my chest. No more pressure on my temple, forehead and the back of my head.

Please let us know how you make out. I’m very interested in Inspire as a solution for my apnea.
No one is discussing the Bongo RX or the Optipillow. I can't wear a CPAP so I've used the Bongo for three years, it works completely on my moderate sleep apnea. These are EPAPs, look them up, brilliant, they just sit on your nose, no electricity, tiny tiny little device. Solved my problem.
These were supposedly on the market in 2017. Are they still under development? When are they most likely going back on?
Thanks

very kind of you, thank you!
I bought one of these and it worked, but it wouldn't stay in my nose. I rigged up a strap to keep it in my nose and it worked great. I found that it wouldn't really push air in, but it made it harder to exhale, which increased the pressure in my throat, and kept my airway open. It works great if you can get it to stay in the nose.
Dear Doctor, I'm really struggling with sleep apnea since past 2 years and couldn't be recovered even after I had 2 surgeries nose and throat. Can you please advise the best solution or a device that would really help me. Thank you Doctor .
Hi Dr Veer, hope you are well. Thanks for your informative vids. I’ve recently undergone a bimaxilliary advancement osteotomy. Brutal isn’t the word. Two months later and I’m not sure yet whether my obstructive remains; however my central apnea is still prevalent. From experience, have you seen central disappear in time following surgery? I’ve had neurological assessment and no abnormalities have come back - do you know what else could be causing it? Any rudimentary input much appreciated; I understand it can only be opinion on KZread. Many thanks. James

I haven't seen true CSA disappear after surgery sorry. ask a sleep physician to look at you, they are normally better at finding the cause or treating these problems. Prof Matthew Walker or Sophia Khan or Guy Leschziner in london are all very good.
I really appreciate this review by a professional and you clearly make your point. I've approached my GP several times and they seem to be sympathetic to my cause but it sounds like the sleep clinic is overbooked and many people are getting turned away. Is there anything more I can do to get seen by the sleep clinic? My wife has several recordings of me sleeping, though I don't stop breathing for long, it is very frequent. I have all the symptoms of sleep apnea and breath/snore through my mouth and not my nose.
@BenEllisAkaGru

If I knew for sure a CPAP would help and I'd be able to sleep with it on, I would be willing to spend the £800-1000 on a machine myself, but not willing to spend that sort of money if it's not likely to help or if I'm unable to sleep with it.
Just saw an ad on Facebook so they’re very much around
I agree with you.

Wow - I've not heard of that device. I will do a review on it, as a friend of mine is doing research in to this concept, and I didn't know that someone had made a device out it. Just looking at it however I don't think it'll work as well as it says. I know my friend found that you need a bigger surface area to stimulate enough of the muscle to make it contract. However they might have got round that problem. I'll add it to my list of things to do. Thank you for telling me about it.
Did you perhaps forget to turn it on?
If James Bond didn't use it. Then neither would I. Great video.
You should read how this device functions, the fans need positive airflow in (like your breath) before they kick on and start to create a flow pressure.
@VikVeerENTSurgeon
2 жыл бұрын
I tried that as well. sorry.
I saw that device in ads and thought it was ingenious but now I see it’s total snake oil. Thanks!
I experimented with mouth taping to force only nasal breathing during sleep. I am still snoring, as I have an app on my phone that is triggered by noise, to record audio events in my sleep. However.... I experienced a massive difference in the mornings I taped, that did not. The nitric oxide that only comes through nasal breathing makes a profound difference. This is not going to work with a lot of people even with nasal strips, which I also use at night, but as long as it's not allergy season for me, I can breathe fine through my nose. Mouth breathing is in and out too fast, and the flow never gets to your extremities. With nasal breathing, you breath in longer, and exhale longer. I'm pretty sure I do have some form of apnea caused by soft pallet sagging in my sleep, but it doesn't reverberate through the entire house out my mouth now, and keep everyone awake. I also feel less tired during the day, and no longer wake up with pins and needle feeling in my toes from poor circulation.
@montega.
