A Short History of the Geneva Bible

Gary DeMar recounts the history and uniqueness of the 1599 Geneva Bible and its importance to history and theology. The Geneva Bible was, in many ways, the Bible that influenced and inspired the American experiment and the freedoms that it enshrined in family, church, and civil governments.

A little late, but there is not a huge difference. In the book of Acts the Geneva uses Passover, where as the KJV says Easter. Also, in the Geneva the wording used in the Books of Paul make them easier to understand than they are in the KJV while still maintaining the original intent. Unlike the NIV or newer translations. Ephesians 6:12 Geneva “12 [s]For we wrestle not against flesh and [t]blood, but against [u]principalities, against powers, and against the worldly governors, the princes of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness, which are in the high places.” The KJV removed worldly governors.

Yes, in Ephesians, it's very clear Government was Evil. And it puts a perspective on why Jesus had challenges with Government and Temple ( religious), which also circles that when the two are combined, it's the worst. The dead giveaway should have been the gold Nero Coin, that states Pontiff Maxim ( high priest) AND his own Image ( government). Today we can connect the Papacy ( pontiff maxim) in bed with a looming WORLD GOVERNMENT. HERE... Ephesians 6:12 12 For we wrestle not against flesh and [b]blood, but against [c]principalities, against powers, and against the WORDLY governors, the princes of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness, which are in the high places. *** in the Geneva Bible there were commentaries about the Catholic, that understandably irk them.

The Geneva Bible is one of the most historically significant translations of the Bible into English, preceding the King James Version by 51 years. It was the primary Bible of 16th century English Protestantism and was used by William Shakespeare, Oliver Cromwell, John Knox, John Donne and others all the above men where in the three masons . Part the ucult. 1 john 5: 10 - 12 10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. 11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

0:40 " some of those notes disturbed a dictatorial King and powerful Religion" *** that would be the Catholic This era would be the time Jesuits, via their death oaths, killed / persecuted Jews, Muslims, Protestants. Queen Mary was called the vengeance Catholic, despite the family as Protestants. ( see below) Why was Mary I such a devoted Catholic, despite her father and siblings being Protestants? Mary Tudor was not brought up by her father but by her mother, Katherine of Aragon, whom Henry VIII managed to get an annulment (divorce) from. Katherine was never beheaded, but she lived out her days believing that she was rightful Queen and that Henry had been wrong to get that annulment. So, Mary grew up listening to her mother condemning the Protestant movement for removing her from her rightful position. And Mary (later famous as “Bloody Mary” for all the Protestants she killed) became Catholic with a vengeance. After the annulment, Mary had been banished along with her mother, as technically this made Mary a bastard until - very late in life - Henry restored both Mary and her younger sister Elizabeth to legitimacy. Ironically, because Mary was a “bastard,” she was not brought up as a true princess but was banished from the palace. That’s why she wasn’t brought up Protestant. Interestingly enough, Henry did have the son he always wanted (Edward) but Edward was sickly; Henry therefore stipulated that his two daughters would be placed directly in the line of succession, after Edward, for the first time in English history. The ultimate results… Mary, the super-Catholic… and Elizabeth, the loyal Protestant… BOTH ascending to the monarchy in turn, would’ve surprised Henry.
