Ford actually made a really reliable car here, in terms of the engine. The 2.0L Zetec will last as long as you need it as long as you keep up with proper maintenance

How can anyone say this is a bad car after it took that 200k miles beating?

My aunt bought a 1985 Ford Escort and drove it a million miles! She’s still driving it at age 87. She’s now racked up 1,018, 450 miles. The odometer been once around, reset itself to 000,000 and shows 018,450. Drives like new since it reset itself. 👋

I wish auto companies spent less money telling people how great they are and put more money into building better vehicles.

As beat up as this Ford Focus looked, it actually turned out to be more reliable than BMW's, Mercedes-Benz's and Audi's that Scotty featured in past episodes.

From my experience, what usually kills a 2000-2011 Focus is rust in the rocker panels. Mechanically, they are pretty solid. Pre-2005 they had a timing belt, so you have to keep an eye on that. Otherwise, cheap and cheerful, especially with a manual transmission. And a good wagon is GOLD.

It's not a FoMoCo problem, Scotty. It's improper battery maintenance. Don't slam the FoMoCo!

I like when Scotty repairs these older type of cars, not the fancy new ones nobody can afford these days.

As the son of an auto mechanic, since deceased, I really enjoy how Scotty knows about various kinds of cars, their pros, their cons. And, how he recognizes a car for what it is. It's an older car, the body is rough, but it runs fine, and is adequate transportation. That's

The 2000-2004 with 2.0L DOHC Zetec are great engines and non interference too. So are the 2.0L Duratec in the later ones. Only crap one was 2000-2004 SOHC.

Geat video as usual Scotty. That poor Ford Focus looks like it had the crap be out of it and hasn't been taken care of too well. But I wouldn't say it is a bad car if it has lasted 200,000 miles of abuse. I always say if you beat the crap out of something and don't take care of it you have no right to call it a piece of junk.
